Knock out a few bricks in that chimney with the hammer & chisel, install the vent pipe in the hole, attach the pipe to the highest & hottest part of the ceiling, attach fan to pipe, plug it in & you now have exhaust, mix the mortar just like cake batter only thicker, get the surface of the bricks on the chimney wet, pack the mortar around the pipe to seal it's penetration point.
3 Hours work & less than $100 is all it takes & no skills or special tools are needed,do yourself a favor & vent that attic,if you do not intend on putting any real effort into an attic grow it will fail as soon as it hits 90 degrees outside,no amount of fans blowing around the attic will help either, your attic will reach temps of 130 degrees & with the addition of the moisture from a grow op expect 100% humidity levels.
In an attic grow you need ventilation which is intake & exhaust, there is no way around it,dont bother unless you can accomplish the ventilation.
