Default How can I clean my attic's baseboard. Photos inside.

No one has been ever inside my house's baseboard as its behind the wall on the 3rd floor but I mad a hole in the closet wall and see the baseboard thats filled with dust and looks filthy but a perfect hidden spot in my house no one could find.

I want to clean it to have a grow in there as I have unlimited hidden space but in a very dirty environment.

I was thinking I would spray the place with lysol and duct tape the walls and floors and ceiling in plastic cover and grow like that. Could I do that and make it a clean enough environment to grow in.

Here are pictures of it as of right now. I was thinking that I would grow it in the area of the first pic.

Depending on where you live its gonna get warm up there in the summer.Lots of Fall/Winter/spring attic growers that are forced to take the summer off. What are the temps like now?

I have found a pump style garden sprayer and a 1/10 bleach water solution to be very effective in cleaning a new space and doesn't leave you with water everywhere to cleanup.

Your plan to throw down a floor and hang plastic sounds great. I highly reccomend Panda plastic for its ease of use. Staple gun it up and then seal the staples with white duct tape.

Good Luck

I live in NYC, it gets pretty hot in here but I have no choice as I have to grow with no one in my home to notice.

I plan to put a huge fan but not much else I can do for temp control realistically. Also is there an alternative to pump style garden fan as I'm on a tight budget.

Use a shop vac and get all the dust. Then, if its hard to put your whole body in there, get a NEW toilet brush, and a bucket of hot soapy water. Scrub down the surfaces, and then rubberband a sponge on the other end of that toilet wand, or wrap a rag around the head with a rubber band, and wipe off the soap. Use a fan to dry.

1 hammer = $5 bucks at home depot.

1 Cold Chisel = $5 at home depot.

1 12 inch attic fan = $50 at home depot.

1 10FT length 8 inch duct = $10 at home depot.

1 Duct reducer = $10 at home depot.

1 Bag fire brick mortar $10 at home depot.

Knock out a few bricks in that chimney with the hammer & chisel, install the vent pipe in the hole, attach the pipe to the highest & hottest part of the ceiling, attach fan to pipe, plug it in & you now have exhaust, mix the mortar just like cake batter only thicker, get the surface of the bricks on the chimney wet, pack the mortar around the pipe to seal it's penetration point.

3 Hours work & less than $100 is all it takes & no skills or special tools are needed,do yourself a favor & vent that attic,if you do not intend on putting any real effort into an attic grow it will fail as soon as it hits 90 degrees outside,no amount of fans blowing around the attic will help either, your attic will reach temps of 130 degrees & with the addition of the moisture from a grow op expect 100% humidity levels.

In an attic grow you need ventilation which is intake & exhaust, there is no way around it,dont bother unless you can accomplish the ventilation.

Depending to what exactly you consider a shite load i don't see any benifit to the electric bill. That space looks quite large to me what are the dimensions?

Properly ventilated i see no reason you can't get any light you want in there. I recently read about a HID ballast that had a thermal dimming feature that cout the bulb to 60% output it it reached a set temp. So it would stay on to not stress the plants but cut it's output to reduce heat. Sounds ideal in your attic to me, But i don't think they made it in less then a 600 watt.

Good Luck
