100 watt CFL would work if you use low-stress training on your plant. I'm not saying you will get high yield, but you can keep it alive for long enough to get buds out of it. Instead of a 100 watt CFL, why not get 4 x 23watt CFLs?

are you talking about a real 100w CFL or a 100w equivalent(~25w)?
do you want to veg and flower with the same one CFL? a single 100w equiv wont cut it for flowering, a real 100w might.
a real 100w CFL at 1 foot away will provide about the same lumens as a 23w will at an inch away.
use mylar, panda film or white paint for reflection.
keep the light as close as you can.
topping and LST will help a lot.
keep the plant short, like start to flower at 6-10 inches.

i veg 2 plants at a time under a 125w. i top twice, 1st at the 6th node then again at the new tops after about a week, this pretty much gives 6 tops at about the same height by week 6-7(4 from topping and the 2 5th node branches which catch up due to the topping). this with some basic LST keeps the plants short and the canopy level for better light coverage and penetration, two things that CFLs are lacking compared to HID lights. my box is lined with them silver packets biscuits and chips etc come in, this made a huge difference to how bright it was inside the box.
