i live in LA county. how manny watts can i run before i should worry about the man kicking my door down? if im growing in a small closet for example?

I'll tell ya......You should easily be able to run 2000 watts without worrying.....maybe more..... The biggest thing is TO PAY YOUR ELECTRIC bill on time......and DON'T steal electricity....you should be fine.....

400-600 watts really is the way to go,,,a 1000 tops,,,anything more than that could be suspicious,,,some ppl will call the electric company and say that theyve just bought some new electrical equipment for work or to make music,or woteva and ask how much extra itll raise there bill by,,,,that way the electric company think the reason why your using more electric is for legitamate reasons,not coz your growing anything,,,,,peace

the rule of green thumb is 1000 watts per bedroom .2 bedrooms 2000watts with no concerns.... watch out for the smell. meter readers can smell. and they may not bust you. but they have been known to ratt and steal... my meter man smoked all my out door last year. i moved and moved it in doors . it wasnt even near my meter.

try to save electric around your house, like in my pc i have a 1000 watt cpu because i have 2 top end graphic cards, i bought a 400 watt psu and remove the linked graphic cards when iam not on games. right there i save 600watt, and iam on the computer quite a bit.
daytime lights on,
night time lights off, but computer is in full swing gaming mode, even it out abit.
put energy bulbs threw out your house.
loads a stuff you can do to try and even your bill out when growing,
unplug stuff when not in use etc etc.

Pay your bills, and don't tell anyone and you will be fine.
The summer is coming and a lot of ppl use air conditioners, this is a big draw on elec.

Replace all of the old light bulbs with cfls, and unplug any unused elec. units.

Most ppl don't care that you are using more elec. Just keep your smell in check, don't have tons of ppl coming and going.
