outlawed in the us. Doesn't mean that they do it, but the supreme court ruled against a police officer walking down the street with a infared camera, looking for grow ops. Against personal privacy I believe. Cops are suposed to have a search warrent for using them on houses. I would immagine it would be the same for helecopters. It of course doesn't mean they don't do it. Cops can often do whatever they want, once they catch you it's up to you and your lawyer to get out of it. Once you get caught with a shitload of weed most of your rights are up for grabs, unfortunately, and most judges will let a few of your intangable rights go if they know you grew 5 lbs of cronic. |

Yeah, anything more sophisticated than a pair of binoculars they need a warrant. But power companies can and will use "Non-intrusive Load Monitoring" (NILM) to search for drug production. It's basically a profile of your energy use. And things like, oh say, a 1000 watt spike 18hrs a day for several weeks, then 12hrs a day is probably very, very suspicious.
But fuck knows where their priorities are, I imagine they're just looking for big scores, but it seems like LEO's do what they want, when they want, so.. yeah.. watch your ass if you're using a lot of power on a steady cycle.

That's one reason I'm interested in LED's. They are a greener alternative, for one thing, and they draw less energy. |

Personally, to answer this question effectivly, the fewest watts is the safer answer. No watt pulling is the best answer, but that isn't really an option for us. So more or less, if you can get away with a 150 watt hps, do that. If not, then move up till you can get by. If you are planning on going commercially, I don't think i can help you. Not that I won't, just can't, no experience. |

People get busted by telling others what you do, friends are a pot growers worst enemy. I have run always 2000w and ocassionally 4000 in the same place, i grew at that location for many years no problems. as far as the electric company is concerned you bought a deep freeze or started a band. a jump in usaged doesn't mean grow operation, JUST DONT TELL ANYONE YOUR FRIENDS WILL GET YOU BUSTED.
