    Has anyone fabricated a window a/c and added like a 6" duct to the back and just ducted heat out a window? I need to cool my veg room down and I have a newer window a/c unit and was thinking maybe I could just add a duct &vent hot air out the window seeing the window a/c wont fit in the window. Anyone tried this

    This guy did it very well. I built a similar version. I used aluminium tape instead of getting sheet metal and taking apart the unit. There needs to be a dedicated exhaust to pull the heat from the back vents. I tried using a room circulator fan hooked into a 6 inch to the back of the ac but I was disappointed with its cfms. The hot air coming from the back of these is no joke.

    Heres a similar idea but using a box instead. This design needs some sort of way to get rid of condensation. The guy says he runs a dehumidifier so that probably allows him to get away with it.


    My temps ended up working out without the AC     so I ended up scrapping the project. Hope these links help.

    they sell te newer ones rite now on wheels with ducting out the back, im sure u can fab something, im just gonna start my grow for summer right next to my window ac and duct tape some rinky dink to cool the girls
