Is there any way to make your own air cooled lighting system out of a standard 400 watt hps with a hood or is that something that you have to buy? also is it worth it to get a MH conversion bulb? if so what kind? who makes the best bulbs on the market and are they worth the money? if so why?

You can make one from a Pyrex bake around. Ebay has them. Or you can take a candle holder that is a tube avalible at wally world and make your own. You can also build a complete encloser if you know what your doing and use a sheet of tempered glass.
The possiblitys are end less, just what ever you chose if you are making your own. be safe and remember those bulbs get very hot and anything flamable touches the bulb or with in an inch or two it will burn.
As far as the best bulbs? Thats a question for someone else, as we all will have our own personal prefrences, and I'm not going to get into that debate, as it seems the forum has turned very aggresive in the last few months...
