the only disadvantage that I can think of in using a cooltube would be the minimal light decrease due to the glass, but then again, light hoods usually have glass to keep the intense heat from plants. you will need to place an exhaust fan to a duct which i hooked to the cooltube. then, some people would put a duct from the cooltube to the bottom of the room ro suck cooler air into the cooltube while others would place a duct to the top of room to suck the remaining hpot air in the room... personally I think it will have the same cooling effect both ways, so it is duct-cooltube-duct-exhaust fan

They don't give very good light reflection compared to other air cooled hoods and only reasons I would use one is no room for a real hood or if your doing a air cooled vertical set up. I know they are lightweight but most tents will hold a Super sun 2 reflector and a carbon filter. If your doing a micro grow then use it but if not buy a real hood

work great in a small highly reflective space like a tent. Suck when you need a bit more pattern control, want to stick a 1k in a focus all the light down.

Advantage = You can do vertical grow ( drop the cool tube vertical and make a circle with your plants around the light)
Disadvantage= not a very big light foot print.

If you get the winged reflector you will get a bigger light foot print.

Ive used them and think they're rubbish. The light isn't reflected downwards very well. The only reason I would use them again would be if I was doing a vertical setup. In all other instances a proper air-cooled hood is better.
