Default Tent inside closed closet ventilation problems

Ok so here is my problem. I have a 3x3x6.5 grow tent that I have put inside my 5'x3'x8' closet. I am currently running a 400w MH for vegging for which I do not have an air cooled hood. With the door open and the inline fan running the temperatures are somewhere in the high 70s low 80s. However, the second I close the door the temperatures skyrocket up to over 85 degrees. That being said I need to be able to close and lock the door for security purposes. I can not vent into the attic and I can not cut an obvious hole in the door. I had read some posts about people drilling a bunch of small holes in their doors for ventilation but I would rather not do that at it isn't exactly stealthy. However, what I was thinking was that if I installed a louvred door that the closet would be able to properly ventilate. Does anyone have any experience with such a setup and if so do you believe that a louvred door would do the trick? Im thinking a louvred door and perhaps one of those bags that respirates CO2 will solve my problems.

    Thank You for your help.

    Modify for 120v

And maybe even put dry ice in the cooler instead?

I'm not sure exactly what you really should do yet; still trying to find a cooling option without modifying your closet...

Do you not think the louvred door would work?

Maybe a little, but most likely not enough. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pURYLzJGUOU - not sure how much they want.

For 400 watts you're going to need at least 100 cfm to properly ventilate. Maybe you could exhaust air with a fan/filter combo from the top left corner of the closet above people's heads so they really won't notice, and then return air in from the bottom right hand corner?

So correct me if i'm wrong here but you're saying that I should cut a notch in the top left of my door and bottom right of the door to vent air? Or am I just misinterpreting you? Anyhow, I have a 6 inch 400 cfm fan in the tent so ventilation should not be an issue from the tent itself.

The problem is that your just venting the air inside your closet which is basically the same as having no ventilation in a grow box. you need ventilation holes to pull hot air out of the area and replenish it with cool air. Either make some vents, get an a/c unit, or significantly cut down on your heat while the door is closed.

Yeah, thats why i'm wondering if switching the door out with a louvred door would solve my problems. I believe it would allow some air to move in and out of the room, but the question is would that be enough airflow to do the trick?

Agreed. Even if you're exhausting the tent, you'er just bringing that hot closet air back in. And yea, that's what I meant. The hot air would be blowing out of the closet in the upper corner, and you could cover it with a regular duct register like for returns around the house. That's what it will look like. And it will be above people's heads and "hopefully" wouldn't look like it's part of the closet because it's in the corner of the closet. So it might look like it's in the wall or whatever. And then the bottom opposite corner could be the intake, which you could make look like a return or a regular vent for the house.

If that idea doesn't work....what's right ABOVE the closet? Is there a possibility of cutting a hole in the ceiling of the closet to exhaust up somewhere else?

I you can't figure out a good way to exhaust the hot air, you might wanna consider trading the HID for some T5s. Those won't get too hot.
