i'm really confused! Firefly brand noob lighting question on metal halide and hps

i'm confused cuz their metal halide has an ignitor.. and most of the stuff i searched online has none and the guy at the shop told me i can use their metal halide bulb on a hps set???? but i searched all over the net and most of them says the opposite - different brands

i was thinkin whether to use 6x 65w cfl's and itl'll cost me $120(this is the highest wattage i can get where i live) while a 400w metal halide set costs $50

sorry for the trouble, but i can only afford one 400w hps set (bulb, ballast, ignitor, capacitor, reflector, wiring, socket) and one mh BULB as of the moment

damn its frickin hard to be broke while wanting to grow some decent meds (indoor grow is the only option - dont ask you know wut i mean)

all mh that i know of have the ignitor in the bulb. a hps ignitor is in the ballast. so thats why a hps wont work in a mh, it has no way of igniting and a mh will work in the hps because it will just have 2 ignitors which is fine.

Pulse start HID = transformer, capacitor, ignitor.

Probe start HID = transformer, capacitor.

HPS = transformer, capacitor (different than HID), ignitor (different than HID).

Retro white CMH conversion bulbs run on HPS ballasts, thoroughly outperform standard HID. Making the HPS ballast a win-win over a switchable ballast.

Using incorrect ballasts may light the bulb, but life and color output are changed by doing so.

thanks! im gona ask them if they have conversion bulbs

danggg i called them and they dont have conversion bulbs, only metal halide with trans, cap, and ign so issit ok to use their mh bulb on hps setup? im still searching for a GE brand here so i could buy a CMH, Firefly brand doesnt have cmh

Here's the bulb you need it only comes in 2 wattages 250 & 400. Runs on a magnetic hps ballast it has a better light spectrum than either mh or hps for veg & flower hence you don't need to change bulbs.

I'm running 2 400w in a single large hood and they rock, much better than the 600w hps they replaced, they put off much less heat and I really like the white light in the grow room.
GE makes a CMH but it's not as good as the Philips.
