Default Comp fans powerd by 12v ac adaptor
Ok, I have been reading that you can connect the 4inch comp fans to 12v power adaptor. How many can you connect to one 12v adaptor? Is there any chance that they will burn?
I have alot of comp fans and adaptors laying around.
Thanks.

it depends on what kind of adapter you are using and how powerful your fan is. I found some real cheap on ebay i searched "110v wall plug to 12v adapter" like 5 bucks with shipping then using a y connector (the black and yellow are power) you hook it up. you should be fine... no burning and can probably hook up 3 or 4 fans per adapter. go for the adapter that has a wall plug one side and a cigerette lighter deally on the other end. youll also need a car charger for a cell phone maybe several if your using multiple adapters. good luck. btw why do you have a bunch of adapters laying around

Also Murderin, another alternative would be to take the power supply out of a computer. You can hook several fans up with that along with other gadgets if you needed to.

I have the adapters from old cell phones I bought over the years. Im going to build one of these setups tonight so I can try it out on my cabnit. Ill post some pics for you guys so others can see too.

JacksonBlue, I had wanted to do that in my original plan, But not just powering the fans with the comp power sup. I wanted to power the light's and fans with just one 550w power supply for a mini fridge box. But in my earlier plans to do it, Someone had told me it couldnt be done, I could only use LED's and I have no idea about LED's, and seem very expensive online.

Thanks for the info guys.

Ahh, Yes I read something like that. I'm still very new to this, but I think it has something to do with the DC versus AC voltage? I heard bad things about using the LED's too, but I to could have been hearsay.

Good luck bro

Haha for sure, LED's are the new way to grow from what I hear. VERY little heat, Very little watt usage. Im very interested in them, but very expensive to build / buy still.

I connected 3 comp fans to one of my adaptors last night, Everything is well and going good, Now to install them tomrrow! Yea it has something to do with the AC/DC
Thanks again,
