Does this look like a decent place to grow?

So I think after thinking this over for a few weeks, I'd really like to grow at home, problem is I live with my rents...but my sister will let me use your closet/attic room to grow. I went in to investigate the area, found it has no access outside aka no vents or holes to move air in and out. Its also fairly cold in there, but if I had a grow tent and maybe vented the air as close to the roof would this keep smell out? Other than the door of entry, there is no other opening into the house. Her room is on its own floor, on the highest floor of the house. So I'm not afraid of smell really, or should I be? What can I do to make this work? Or cant I? need some feedback please!

Maybe the rents will get you a tent for xmas so when they kick you to the curb for growing in their home you'll have a place to stay!!
Dude you're gonna get flamed here for going behind the homeowners back and growing weed in their house. Lets face it, even if you were capable of handling the odor your sister will rat you out in a heartbeat for one thing or another, good luck and no further comments.

I would caution growing in an attic like this. With all that fiberglass in the insulation I would almost be certain that some will end up on the bud... Another problem would be regulating the heat as well as pests. If you could put a grow tent in there it might work out alright. As far as the smell goes, add a carbon filter to the vent pumping out of the grow tent. And the above comment brings up another good point of the sister ratting and laws...

haha..well we need some money right now..i know my rents wouldnt be ok with it at all, but i'd like to help them out, im not really doing that well either going to school and working a lame job. and no my sister will never rat me out, me and her are cool, guess you must not have a good relationship with your siblings?

My siblings and I were fine when we were young , anymore we have our own lifes. I understand the financial problems, times are hard....BUT you risk making things much much worse and you don't even know that you can even grow weed. initial cost is there and then you really have to maintain it to keep it alive which means spending more. So, I really don't think this is a good idea.

Ok dude...lol I understand where you're coming from...but I'm really not asking about anything you're responding to. What Im asking is if this is an ideal spot for the PLANT to grow in. and will smell be an issue. I know its illigal, and you cant really get anywhere in life without some risk. I know about cost, and i've been a member of this site since april, and even before april ive been reading up on this site up until now. Im pretty sure I know everything there is to know about growing weed, because I've done reading on growing for over a year, EVERY DAY, and I have purchased many books, and I can proudly say that..BUT i've never done it, so i dont expect anything good the first grow I know that, but practice makes perfect. lol

Oh and let me ask you dude? do you grow? J/w

And no your area doesn't look like an ideal place to grow. are you 18? you'll spend a lot of effort and money making that a decent place to grow with no problems.

Growing in this space is going to cost you $800 minimum. The lack of ventilation is a huge issue. If you can install CO2 and an environment controller that'd be best.

Grab yourself a couple CFL bulbs and hope for the best. No sense in dropping mad cash into something like this that might not even work. Figure 2-4 small plants, 250w of CFL bulbs, you should be good on $250 in the cheap scenario.

Ok cool, I can see you had a pretty good grow on your first try so congrats! and no im 23? why does that matter? The only other place i can work with is this place I'm in the midst of maybe moving into next month, and the only space to grow there would be a closet..probably 6' by 4'? is that any better? and no it has no access to the attic...could i just put a tent in there? and vent out through the window near the closet? I'm limited on space here

You have got to be kidding.

Even if you could keep your operation a secret from your parents, are you absolutely positive that they will never have an insurance inspector, real estate appraiser, exterminator, etc. discovering your secret spot ??

I don't know what the drug seizure and asset forfeiture laws are in your state, but the fact that you are still living with your parents and are willing to gamble with their home to satisfy your hobby, suggests that you do not yet have your act together and should probably reconsider your brilliant scheme.

The closet should work just fine for you I wouldent even put a tent in there just make sure you have good ventilation and make sure the heat is reasonable that's what I used for many of grows early on with no problems good luck with your first grow and just remember its a learning process don't get discouraged and give up.....

Does'nt loook like a very good spot......think...smell...heat....ventilation.....All can be dealt with using a filter and inline fan..(have you heard an inline fan running, sucking air through a filter?..it's noisy) Has your sister? Not gonna work....just my opinion.

not ideal but it can work mate you'll need to board the deck out so that the weight is spread evenly also helping to cover the insulation, if you are going to grow up there it would probably be a wise idea to reverse the norm take air in from the room (attic) and then vent down into the house so as not to create a massive hotspot (the roof) and also helping with the ventilation, i live in the uk so can't comment in good faith on how much your roof breaths but in theory with a little bit of work and money and you should be good. if you do go ahead with the attic there's a few probs you should be aware of the biggest i found was temps great in the winter unmanageable through the height of summer but we have black welsh slate hear that gets very hot!!! the other was mentioned above the insulation has to be kept out which will mean sheeting off an area around your tent cutting plenty of holes and then covering them with something that breathes i used my misses tights cut up and it worked well, other than that you'll have to have a little patience and set up and then wait a couple of days checking temps and humidity once your lights up there and then buy your fans to suit, i know this sounds a little arse backwards but you'll need to do this to see what kind of fans your gonna need to help with temps remember your exhausting into the house and need to create negative pressure in the room to keep the fresh air coming in, i hope this helps a little mate if your gonna go through with, if i was you though mate starting for the first time i'd probably try the other option the closet and work up from there, starting in the closet will help with the issues mentioned above and give you much better control over your environment without having to use the large expensive fans aswell as possibly a 12month grow area that will allow you to practice and not worry so much about the money you'll have to claw back from the above investment that could become rather expensive depending on temps r/h etc either way i wish you the best mate and happy growing fingers crossed for ya mate

Try and get your hands on the book or an e-book called "buds for less" its helping me alot to get equipment for cheap and make a good but very basic first set up.

you can virtualy do it anywhere you want. ( accept maybe where you plan to grow )

only problem im having is finding the equipment due to the lack of stores in my area. but i guess i will have to buy off the internet.

but definetly get a hold of the book or try find it on the internet.
it can help out even the upmost "professionals" so to speak.

but you can grow virtualy anywhere its just such things as cost and living with the parents that can make it tricky to grow. as long as you have good ventalation so air can move around and also a few fans to control the heat and you will be fine.

also then onto smell. if its such an issue such as you say then carbon filter in that room would be needed.

It doesn't matter how much you've read up until this point. If you've never grown, you've never had the experience. There are always issues that can set you back.
Don't risk your parents' livelihood for your selfish means.
You won't be able to make much cash off a 400W anyway.

The reason I asked if you were 18 was to determine that you weren't a minor, I or most anyone else on this site probably wouldn't give someone under 18 the time of day. Ethics, you know.
And yes a 6 by 4 closet set up right will yield.

Oh ok. Makes sense then, thought it was for another reason ha. Well yeah guess almost everyone has said it wouldn't be such a great idea for various reasons. It just sucks right now with my current living situation and all. Id like to grow soon because I've been looking at other grow journals for some time now, and its really making me want to start, so I guess I'll just go with the closet. Oh and kind of funny though, I just went downstairs and find that my mothers watching Pineapple Express on television HA..well I do happen to have some Pineapple at this moment...mayyybbee................yeah right ha! Guess its time to move out guys! I'm paying rent on a place I dont live in anyways...long story.
