Thread: Quick/whack/cheap grow box advice

Whats up my fellow tokers.

I've been growing this plant on the balcony for the past 2 months, cloned her and then kinda just left her outside to grow. Many of her budding sites have reappeared but recently I switched her from a 1 gallon pot to a 5 gallon pot and she exploded. I'm on a very high floor so I'm not worried about people seeing it at ground-level, I'm worried about many of my neighbors that live above me. Anyway, I decided to move her inside since I have an extra 150 watt HPS sitting around.

I bought myself a couple of Rubbermaid, 36 gallon totes and stacked them on top of each other. I cut out the bottom out of one and cut a hole through the lid as you can see in the pictures. It's a sloppy job but it works I guess. I'm in the process of adding reflective paper.

I'm still fairly new to all this and my question is this: do I need more lighting towards the bottom or does the plant distribute the light receives up top to the bottom? I'm going to switch her to 12/12 and I want to get a "decent" yield. Is the 150 watt hps sufficient? Should I get some CFL's?
