Default what are the cons (if any) of vegging under t5 florescent (4 ft 8 lights)???

hi folks....i have been fighting a temperature vs humidity battle in my veg room under my 600 watt metal halide.....( i have alredy tried evrything, inline fan, air conditioner, etc. etc)

from what i hear, the HPS light is much cooler running,....is this true...if so..ill wrap up my ballast and reflector, and take it into the flowering room to run HPS??

so what i would like to know is....is there any disadvantage to vegging under a T5 light fixture???....running this T5 fixture will significantly reduce the heat compared to my 600 watt Metal halide..Right??

depending on the advice given,...i am thinking of switching to T5 lighting fo my vegetation in order to cut down on the outrageous heat that my 600 watt metal halide is creating......will my yield be affected either way??? what do ya think??

and if you do think it is ok.....what kelvin rating should one go with?

Vegging under floros with the right amount of spacing, color spectrum and bulbs is just plain smart. Cooler temps, cooler colors (vegging plants don't need those reds that much) and decreased operating costs all add up to WIN,WIN,WIN. My cloners have 4ft T-8 bulbs and my veg racks have 4ft T-8 bulbs. After the right height they march off to flower under 1000 watt Super HPS Hortilux EYE air cooled hoods. In veg with floros the color spectrum you want to use is no less than 5000k- 6500k is considered daylight spectrum and probably better all around. I use the T-8's vs the T-5's as my floro ballasts are energy savers and only work with the 1" T-8 bulbs. Right now I have 8 4 ftx4 bulb sections for a total of 1024 watts just in floro bulbs. As my avatar cleary shows- they work just fine for veg! Good luck!

    yes, I grow under t5s us a 2- 4ft 2tube 54watts bulbs at 6500k for veg. and I flower using 2- 8tube 54watt bulbs at a mix of 3000k and the 6500k. more 3000k then 6500k. Hope this helps.
