Yes and they don't distribute the light very well either.

have you any idea how many lumens they steal and would they relect the light ok for a wardrobe

when you say wardrobe,,i think closet,,I doubt you would lose so many lumens it would matter,,with a light that size in a closet,,but keep your tube clean,,as it does get cloudy looking over time from the air passing through it,,and invest in a good reflector,,if making your own,,good luck
