Default Is 4-1000w Lights Too Much For This Many Plants??

I am wanting to grow 24 plants with 4-1000w lights. The reason I want to use so much light is to get the highest possible yield from the least amount of plants. Since I am pretty new at this I don't know if that would be too much light. If it's not to much light.....should I use 5 gallon buckets or would 2-3 gallon buckets work just as well?

A 1000w lamp will light a 4 foot by 4 foot area really well, no matter how many plants you have in that area. (that provides 62.5w/sqft)
