    Default Is This Enough Ventilation?

    ok im setting up a 600w mh/hps combo with an air cooled hood. im going to attach a 6 inch exhaust fan to the hood to vent the air out of the lamp to the exterior. in addition i am ducting an interior duct from the outside to bring in cool air to the lamp. my question is this; the area is 2 feet deep by 5 feet wide and 6 feet high. in addition to the lamp vent i plan to put on an exhaust fan to the room itself to remove the odor and maintain good temperature. what cfm should i be using for this volume of space? its roughly 60 cubic feet. i plan to go with a 110 cfm fan and think this should be ok for bringing fresh air in at an adequate rate. a circulating fan will also be inside the space to move air around and over the leaves. HELP!!! i have to buy this stuff this week. i love school loans.

    The 110 would be adequate but...

    The "ideal" exhaust fan will vent the room three times a minute so for 60 cubic feet a fan rated at least 180 CFM would be the "ideal". I have ideal in quotes since it depends who you ask what the ideal is

    is less than ideal a problem? will it inhibit the growth at all? im just trying to spend conservatively at this point. after this, my first grow, i will definitely be upgrading certain things. exhaust fan, switch from soil to hydro...possibly a clone machine. but for this grow i think slightly below ideal will be sufficient. or am i wrong?

    I doubt that it would be a problem using 110cfm just for ventilation. But if your area gets really hot, then you may need to go for the "ideal" option.

    even with the lamp being air cooled is there still a reasonable possibility it will get too hot? im thinking that this will significantly aid in heat dispersion from the area. the room is generally 69-70 degrees year round.

    Sounds like you will be alright then at 69-79. I wouldnt stress.
