cause I SAW 8 cfls in a closet and the temp on the GROUND at plant level never went over 5 degrees warmer than the ROOM (the room that the closet was in) temperature... never broke 80 degrees.

I had 1 plant in a small closet with 5 45w cfl's surrounding it + i added 2 2?w cfl's late in flowering, my temps were just over 80F when i left the door open. Temps were higher with the door closed, i don't remember exactly how high but i know they were higher because that's why i had to leave the door open. This was with no real ventilation, just an oscillating fan in the closet. My temp definitely rose more then 10F, but not a whole lot more. This was also during the winter in a cool part of my basement.
For my last grow i vegged using 6/7 27w 6500k cfl's in a 2'x3'x4.5' closet, i had a oscillating fan in there and left door open all the time. When the lights were on i would see temp increase of almost 10F.
If my flowering room wasn't full right now i'd be tempted to run 400w of cfl's in there for awhile with the ventilation on/off and the door open/closed. Then repeat the same test with my 400w hps and compare the results. I don't feel that my 400w hps puts out that much heat, i can get it about 6 - 7 inches from the plant tops without any burning. I personally without any testing think that 400w of cfl's in my small flowering room would make close to as much heat as my 400w hps. Anyone here ever try this 400 vs 400?
Knowm your the man bro, keep doing what your doing, and i look forward to reading your book when it's released.
