Default Which is Better in YOUR opinion?
In an air-cooled reflector, would it be better to exhaust at the base of the bulb end or the tip or the bulb end of the reflector?

hes asking which is more efficient, venting from the base where its less efficient or at the top which is more efficient. I believe it will be about the same, you may get slightly more cfm when venting from the base but you also get more turbulence through the ducting which might reduce cfm. Id just go for the way in which the cord is most convenient to the socket.

Agree. Think of the whole hood as a single unit, air will have to flow around everything in either direction. I think more importantly is where the fan goes, pushing or pulling. I've always pulled, I think it creates more like vacuum or negative pressure in the hood which will pull air into cracks and leaks if any. It is also more efficient than pushing based on fluid dynamics.

If you pull instead of push and your hood isn't sealed your going to have to charcoal it too because you will suck in the stink from the plants. If you push you pressurize the hood so you don't have to filter the smell at all I believe, but i think these fans suck better then they blow. Also if you put the fan in front of the hood the fan's heat will heat the air it passes. So i'd put the fan in front if you use non sealed hoods and want to use isolated air for your hoods instead of having to buy sealed hoods.

for a glass panel enclosed air cooled reflector. just two holes on either end with a reflector in between with a glass panel to seal it up. which end of the bulb is hotter, the base of the bulb or the tip of the bulb? back to the two flanges(holes) the tip of the bulb is near one flange and the base of the bulb (which is in the socket) is also near one flange. or does it not matter? if yes, explain. if no, explain. Please and thank you very much sorry i can't be very clear sometimes. improper wording i guess. hope everyone gets it.
