Default Noob--Co2 waste
Hello, im designing a room and ran into a new concern

here is my setup:

5x5x8 sealed (guys at the show say i dont need fresh air cause of co2)

independent exhaust of lighting

properly rated fan and scrubber not exhausting but recycling the air

my questions are:

1) is it true that because of the co2 enrichment that i dont need fresh air?

2) do the scrubbers neutralize the odor only or will they waste my co2 even though my air is being recyclyed only

much thanks for those who can help

1) yes

2) Why do you need a scrubber if you're in a sealed room? The only fan you'll need is the fan cooling the light - just get a portable AC for inside the room, and you'll never need to intake or exhaust the room, ever.

Assuming you have CO2 enrichment going.

i thought it is neccessary to eliminate odors

by sealed i mean i dont have exhaust or intake openings, its would just be a built in room made out of 2x4 framing and insulation which i will seal best as i can with something such as insulation gap seal foam i suppose

im sure those will still be present and somehow find their way out wont they

Not if it's sealed.

Just make sure it's 100% sealed (wrap in panda film or something else) and you'll be fine.

portable a/c's exhaust air tho and that air would smell. thats the problem i have as well.

unless you buy the more expensive style that cools with refrigerant from an outside unit

I think its a good idea to setup a carbon filter and fan, even in a sealed grow room... to keep the smell down a little... otherwise when you open it, it will be so concentratedly pungent it will fill the entire establishment with the smell of dank buds...

ideally in a sealed environment (tent) - you could recirculate all the air in the tent through a carbon filter, then just take a small amount of clean air after the fan (in the high pressure part of the duct) and put a small 2" vent to the outside of the tent, to create a small negative pressure inside the tent... so when you open it, a small amount of air will come IN to the tent, instead of coming out... of course if you open it all the way up, it wont work at all...

i have a 4x8 tent set up in a 10x11 room, with the tent exhausting filtered air into the room... I air condition the room with a portable dual hose unit rigged up to the window... i put "Y" ductworks at the widow, and piped my lights to the input and output ducts as well...

anyways, i let the tent pull in AC'd air, and exhaust warmer air into the AC'd room... when i add CO2 - i imagine the whole room will be at 1500ppm... my mother tent is in there too, so that will work out nicely... but no co2 for now, just me.

i guess what i am trying to figure out is somr sort of estimate of how much co2 gets wasted by using a scrubber without venting the room to the outside

anyone who has ppm meters and this setup, can you help?

thanks

the carbon only filters the smell... it does not remove co2... so none is wasted.

eh?
