Default first time aeroponic grower please give me your thoughts
I am about to start growing and decided to go with aeroponics. (because i have heard great storys of how successfull it is and how once it is turned on it needs little matenince also i am ambitious to grow some seriously dank herb) Right now i have a 17 gallon rubermaid storage plastic box (my resevoir and root area). In the top of the container i have cut 4 holes for 2' net pots so that the pots are attached by the brim to the containers top and the dangle straight down in to the resevoir (container). Inside the pots i am useing like a tiny bit of oaisis floral foam to suport the stalkes. Inside the resovior there will be the water and nutriant solution with a pump attached to two 360 spaying nozzles. So basicaly the water will be sprayed onto the roots at they grow out of the net pots. also i have an airstone in the water connected to a air pump outside of the resovior where the vegatative part of the plant is growing. (this is the idea that the pump will suck up mostly oxygen rich air which the roots need because of the exaust from the plants, i dont know how it will work) For lighting I have a 400 watt hps lamp with a MH conversion bulb for vegatative growth and the hps bulb for flowering. It is located in a locked wardrobe in my room so i dont think ventilation will be a problame because i will check up on my plants pretty often but for CO2 i am going to try spraying seltzer water on the plants leaves and useing yeast and sugar water fermenting which slowly realeses CO2. For a sketch see the attachment. i appreciate any ideas, critism, or tips because i am unsure about this system because i kind of made it up mixing aeroponics, bubbleponics, and if the roots get long enought (which i am sure they will) deep water culture hydroponics. Please comment.

Who ever told you low maintaince was pulling your leg. About mixing DWC and aero. This is a bad idea. In aeroponics your PH is low 5.5-5.8 . DWC is usually over 6. Plants are very efficent. Nutrients will take the path of least resistance. So your plant will choose one. I grow 2 grows a year Hydro and 2 grows per year aero. One of the differences in the plants is how the roots look. In hydro the are bright white and smooth with little hairs. In Aero they have many more hairs and they grow more. Confusing your roots is not a good idea.

aight thanks a lot i think i can make like a tray with holes in it to hold then abeve the water but enough to drain. i have also herd that you can hold the roots up with a cloth so the water drains but the roots are supported out ofthe water. Does the airstone and the bubbles have any effect on the roots if they are you of the water?

The airstone airates the water and brings fresh air into the chamber. I just let my roots hang.

If you want aeroponics you need the nozzles or someothe way of parting the water. I see your delima. I have a tank below for nutes, and the aero chamber on top that drains to the tank

wait nevermind thanks alot though for the info. Do you know if keeping the air pump near the plants will increase the o2 enough to increase growth or am i better off haveing it outside the room to bring in fresh air?

yeah thanks oh you have some sick pictures nice camera. Does the capacity of the resevoir have a lot of impact or could i just refill it often. If so i could split the resevior into a section for the roots and the bottom for the nutriants.

The less water you have, the more you need to change it. I change mine every sunday. That might work well
