Default LIGHTPROOFING Around Closet Door?
Ok so I am tired of it looking like a spaceship is locked in my closet and I am looking for the best/cheapest method of keeping the light from shining out around all sides of the door. I have done some research and have read of a few methods but would like your advise.

Proposed methods:
1. Panda Film (white one side/black on other)
-hung from inside top of door molding about 6" wider on all sides?; can be rolled up and velcrowed for access

2. Black Poly with Mylar on the other side
ex. WALMART - 6mil black painters tarp
-hung the same way as previous

3. Rollup Shade (4-6in. wider than door, 6mil, room darkening)
ex. LOWES
37-1/4" x 78" Heavy Weight Room Darkening White Custom Shade

Is there a better fabric or plastic to do the job? Should it be velcrowed to the sides of the doorway? Would it be better to hang a cheap curtain rod with some type of lightproof fabric that would easily open like a curtain?

This issue is very important to me and all help is appreciated!!!

can you show a picture of the setup, with room lights on and off. Is it made of plastic and thats why you can see the light?

Default Spaceship in your closet
I use a cheap roll-up shade (from Lowe's) mounted inside my closet door. Taped mylar to it. Works well to block light and its easy. Make sure to get the room darkening variety and don't forget hardware for outside mounting (as opposed to inside a window frame).

Ive used PandaFilm on my closet doorway. I made a 4' wide by 7' high piece which I cut right down the middle and reattached with a tarp zip-up.

It works fine as far as I can tell, though I like the previous posters idea of having a roll-up blind a little better.

That's awesome.. I never thought of that! A rollup shade sounds perfect for the job. It's easy and I can attach mylar on the other side like you suggested. I have a lowes nearby so I'll check on that soon.

walmart also sells black suede curtains - no light gets through and you can just slide them to the side to look at your plants

Yea, I orginally thought about using curtains from Walmart, but I didn't know which ones would keep the light out 100%. I checked over in fabrics but that lady didn't know squat.

On the roll-up shade idea, I haven't been to Lowes yet but I checked their site and found this. Do you think this would keep all the light out and work well?
