diy cooltube bake a round

hey guys. i just ordered a 4" bake a round pyrex tube from ebay. i will be using my 400 watt eye hortilux bulb in it, and my socket and chord from my vented hood. does anyone use these? do they work well? reason i baught it was my vented hood was not very efficient. i have a 465 cfl squirell cage fan to suck air from room though the cool tube out into attic. am i wasting my time? just wanna know before i take apart my vented hood to get the chord, and socket out for the cool tube build. thanks for your time.
