250w vs 150w Question
Someone I know wants to start their own personal grow room in their closet. They're really not sure if they want to use a 150w or a 250w HPS for flowering. He/she is currently renting a place where the utilities are included, and the landlord deals with the power bill. There are three other people living with him/her, and they were wondering if a 250w HPS would draw too much power or if the landlord wouldn't notice at all.

Growing in a rental is risky business.

That's what I said. I told them that 150w would probably be the way to go, as long as they keep it stealth. They do have their own room with their own lock, and a 150w light wouldn't draw much power at all, at least not enough to cause a noticeable difference in the electric bill if they were making an effort to conserve power elsewhere in the house.

As was said growing in a rental is not wise. Second the more people that know a grow is being done the more mouths there are and that means the greater the chance that someone will say something at the wrong time around the wrong person or people and then there is real trouble. Another problem with growing in a shared dwelling is at times even the best of friends have a falling out and one can retaliate, say after moving out, by dropping a dime on you. Also if there are girlfriends involved they are known to be notorious rats if their guy is caught cheating on them or just suspected of cheating on them or if the guys dumps them. I could not begin to guess how many times over the many years I have grown I have heard of or read about a pissed off girlfriend, or a pissed off recently turned ex-wife for that matter) ratting out their guy.
My best advice would be to tell ‘your friend’ whoever ‘her or she’ is to scrap their grow plans for now and wait until ‘your friend’ can grow in a safe environment.

tell your friend.....99% of people who get caught are caught by someone opening their big mouth..........growing in an apt is a big no-no ....not safe
