Lightbulb New Design. Need some input...

So I decided not to go with the full room in the back of the house... Its just going to be too hard with family and all knowing that there's a room there.

Whoever lived here before us built some crazy ass entertainment center into the wall, which Im thinking might make a good closet sized area for growing. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you all think.

I have a 400w hps light, fans for intake and exhaust, and air filter. I'm not sure Im ready to step into the hydro world yet, so this will be set up as a soil grow.

The two pics with white-ish walls are from the inside of the room, and the other pics are from the garage side of that same "entertainment center". The space alltogether is about seven feet tall, 58" wide, and 22" deep.

Thoughts/Ideas??

So you plan on vegging on the bottom and flowering on the top?

Hey shcmidty, welcome to the forum. Since you already have a whole into the garage whoch more than likely does not have aheader above it, you can discover this 'fact and build it right and better. The distance from the top of that unit to the ceiling would be ideal for your ventilation system. You decided to build it four foot deep instead of 22" cause thats the way stud walls work out and in order to get a header over it you kinda had to tear it all out and start over anyway?? While yopu were at it you deciced to really sel it up good putting styrofaom insulation on the garage side and good insultaion on the inside walls and this white plastic on the inside will serve as a vapor barrier and wind block if its done right. Get my drift?? VV

I was thinking of growing three plants at a time, similar to the one plant I have going now... Its roughly 40" tall, so I could do three of these in similar size pots in this space... Veg, flower and harvest enough to last me long enough until the next three are ready to roll.

At this point, I'm not going to clone any of these plants. I have some other seeds that I would like to make a mother out of and then start cloning off of her. Those are actually germinating now, so Im hoping to have this done within the next couple weeks.

Vic,

I get your drift... I'm not opposed to tearing it out and rebuilding it, but I'm hoping to make something out of what I have... If you know what I mean. This is going to need to have somewhat of a stealth look to it, as I do have the occasional guest in the home that does not know about our habits.

With that said, I would prefer not to rebuild whats already there. So any input on how to improve what I have would be great.

That space looks good. What will you do for ventilation? Hydro is not that hard, actually eaier thatn soil I think.

Im thinking that once I clear those shelves out of the space, that I'll punch a hole in the top of the area and bottom of the area for ventilation tubes... I can run the exhaust right into the attic, and the intake can come from the outter wall of the garage.

Ya the garage sounds good. That is where I vent out cause we smoke in our garage and the door is always cracked open.

better do some research about what can happen if you exhaust that air into the attic. I'm not going to write it all again. Its not a good idea. VV

Yeah, I was thinking about that last night... It looks like my best option is going to be running to the outter wall of the garage for intake and exhause. That way its pumping fresh air in and old air right outside.
