Default HELP PLEASE! gaps around wardrobe letting out smell!
Hi y'all, my babies have been flowering for a few wks now. I have a carbon filter in my wardrobe growroom, which was great at first but this week i can smell it outside the room again!

What can I use to cover the gaps around the wardrobe doors to hold in the smell?

Thanks!

Are the gaps around your door leaking light too? I'd worry about that first...Maybe get some poly/panda film and light proof the inside...that might help with the smell too.

it depends on what kind of gaps youre trying to fill. if its just like gaps in the corners of the rooms fill them with the expanding foam stuff or caulk. if its the doors to your space or some sort of moving part these are probably not good options, i used the sticky foam stuff thats made for door jams to seal up my doors when theyre shut. only like 5 bucks for enough for an entire doorway (house sized). works well for me to seal out light and smell

Change your cabinets ventilation so air doesn't flow out cracks.

It sounds to me like you're pulling air in with an active intake fan rather than pushing it out via active exhaust.

We need a little more info on your intake/exhaust setup. Size of fan and filter, passive intake? Where is the filter in regardls to the grow room and are you pushing or pulling? Not that one is neccessarily better, but I've seen people hook their entire systems up backwards or with alot of leaks and all they were doing was exhausting alot of unfiltered air.

Also, having too big of a fan and too small of a filter, I heard that it could negatively effect the carbon's ability to properly filter the incoming air.

And having "gaps" doesn't mean that it is a bag thing, so long as your fan is still able to maintain some negative pressure, just enough to ensure that ALL the air is going through your filter and out the exhaust.

you need to have more exhaust then intake for negative pressure. if you have it set up right then u you would be sucking in all the air thru the gaps and pulling out your smelly air.. if you have an intake or to much intake then you are not letting your exhaust work properly and its not pulling out all the air it should your pushing air out thru those gaps... either cover up your intake holes or just let them stay open and it will suck air thru there..... good luck

Thanks for all the replies! I'm still confused as what to do though. I'm a newbie by the way! How do I change the setup so the filter sucks out all the smell?

The gaps are around the doors at the front of the wardrobe, so I need to be able to open them to water them daily. yes it lets light out too.

I have one small fan through a hole in the back of the wardrobe, bottom left, to bring cool air in. it has gaps around it.

And the carbon filter and fan are top right, pushing the hot air out. The filter is set up right cos we tested it was blowing the right way.

here's pics of the fan im using with the carbon filter. and a pic of a similar carvbon filter.

ill upload some more pics of my setup...

HERE'S A THOUGHT... WOULD I BE BETTER PUTTING THE FILTER IN THE ROOM RATHER THAN THE WARDROBE?
