Use the velcro method mentioned above. I actually hung mind from the ceiling with velcro and it hangs perfectly straight. Get the industrial strength stuff from Home Depot. Expensive, but the glue on the back sticks like no other.

Mylar will only cause hotspots if it is not held taut on the walls, the same as any reflective material. Spray adhesive works well to attach it to cardboard, but velcro allows you to re-adjust it if you get it a bit wrong.

I will be using a 600 watt HPS to grow with and being my first grow i wanted to make sure this wouldnt be a problem. thanks for the help
'hotspots', as far as I'm concerned, is urban myth. Think about it. Its based on the theory of a magnifying glass. Whats the chances of that wrinkle. having *just* the right curve and being *just* the right distance away and be pointed on *a* leaf's finger to burn it?

Plus with the circulation fan, its probably always changing from the breeze.

yeah, ive used tin foil and shit people said would cause hotspots when i was newer and it never burned em EVER. but i think its got to do w/the fan always on and the plant therefore not staying still. but i use cfls too so maybe hps and tin foil or whatever does actually cause hot spots.

I had used spray mount to cardboard. when put on smoothly, no wrinkles/aka hotspots, don't see the prob. especially since mylar is clear. the reflective aspect *is aluminum*.

Pretty old post but I used a little duct tape on the emergency blankets I hung so they wouldn't rip when I stuck them to the wall with some silver headed thumb tacks. Same benefits as using hook and loop fasteners I suppose since you can reposition easily and keep it taut against the wall as necessary.
