OK so i knew it was a little crazy but i bought a grow tent 36"x20"x64", and got a crazy deal on a 1000 hps with a coolable hood. so i installed the thing to the very top of the tent(which i got to fit in my closet). Turned it on and in 30 minutes it was 120 degrees. So i went and got a 6" inline fan and put it to suck air through the hood and out the top of the tent... still 110 degrees. I just put a cool mist humidifier in there on low. but my question is will a humidifier crack the bulb? I live in a dry climate so i figured i would need one anyway. anyone have any comments or ideas? I will post pics as soon as i get the rest of the work done.

Ok. so I added a fan to push air up to the intake of the exhuast. Still up to 100 degrees. Then i opened up one of the closet doors and temps dropped to just under 90. Thats good enough for now. I took a couple pics of my setup. Anyone with suggestions?

i have a 600W cooltube, in a closet. the only thing I could do to bring the temps down was to buy a portable a/c.

you could also get some ducting, and suck air from a cooler part of the room. that will bring cooler air over the bulb.

also what size fan are you using? cfm?

Im using a 6" Inline 250 cfm. might just end up sticking clones in there and leaving the doors open for now. 7a-7p flower.
Started a seed few days ago. One mystery bagseed(supposed to be of decent quality). Sprouted today so im gonna use some cfls for a couple weeks, then ill turn on the sun!!

you think it would be better if i suck air from a cooler part of the room, straight thru the hood and out, Or just suck cooler air into the tent and let it go up to the hood and get sucked out?

the closet isnt hot bro.. the light is... bring the cool air from the room, across the bulb, and out of the room... try to exhaust the heat from the bulb into another room altogether...

youre gonna need a bigger fan. I have a 450cfm cooling my 600. that would help your temps drop.

Cheap fix.... Get a portable ac unit like said earlier. Check my grow journal I use a 400watt in a tent 4FTx4FTx6.5FT. Going for 12 plants, mostly all 'fucking incredible' and 'white widow max' strains. The temps are perfect(72 at "night"(going 18/6) and 81 is the hottest i've ever recoreded, and thats on a miserable hot day), the electric bill is hardly noticeable. Maybe consider sizing the light to at least a 600. I've seen excellent results with 250HPS. In that little space a 1000watt is insane and you'll NEVER get ideal temps, not without a portable ac unit that will also use minimally 600 watts of energy. And then with your 6"inline fan has got to be at least 100 watts (1700 watts!!! OUCHH)...a bit sketchy for an apartment, for that is where I grow.
