Hey guys i want to make a cooltube. Besides buying the 7$+ glass cylinder, does anyone have any other ideas of things to use or things they have used? Or where a glass cylinder could be bought in stores (not online)?

Michaels sells "hurricane" glass, I think its for candles. Im going to use those on my cool tube.

Yea I run 600w in a cool tube, and I love it, but I didn't build mine...kinda wish I had. For exhaust you will need a good inline fan if you're doing HPS. I run a 250CFM squirrel cage fan attached to the wall of my tent, with duct running to the cool tube, and duct running from the other side of the cool tube to my DIY carbon filter. I just have a small hole cut out for passive cool air intake. The fan sucks air through the filter, cools the tube and exhausts outside the room. Depending on what kind of room you're growing in or if you're going to be in a tent, I find this is a good way to ventilate your room with a cool tube.

In this pic, they were just put into 12/12 so the light is raised a bit, but you can get probably 10"-12" from the tops easy without too much heat. I've seen some ppl grow almost to the glass but I think that would be a little hot for the tops.
