Question Should I grow in the house or build a shed?
Initially I was planning to split my bedroom in two and grow in a 4'x5'x6' with 600W.

But this setup would render my bedroom almost unusable and in particular the closet would need to be emptied and I have no place to move the stuff.

I have a tiny kind off a "yard" and decided to build a kind of a shed there to put the excess stuff in until the grow is done. And then it occurred to me that I could just grow in it.

The shed would be of a comparable size, could be made light and water proof and probably airtight enough to put a activated carbon filter and a fan.

As I see it the main problem would be the low temperatures at night during the dark period. Around here the temperatures now move between 40-55F (4C-13C)and will be 45-63F (8-17C) by June.

I could take the air in from the house and it would raise the temperatures a bit. But I cannot isolate the shed. I assume that a 600W MH/HPS lamp would keep the temps high enough during the veg phase and during the day by 12/12. But at night the temps will fall to almost the same as outside.

Growing in the shed would make my life easier but I don't want to screw up my grow.

What do you think?

well imo i would grow in the shed seems the easiest option.the temp issue is fairly easily resolved just get a small oil heater and a seperate timer so that once your shed cools down the heater will go on until your lights come back on.

The shed could be made pretty airtight with foils and duct tape and the air could be drawn from the bedroom so the pests should actually stay out but the temperature problem remains.

The equipment, the seeds and the materials for the shed will run to ca USD2000. I just can't afford to buy a heater I think.
I could divert the exhaust from the house heating into the shed which would not only heat it but also pump plenty of CO2 inside but I can't leave the house heating on at night. That would cost me a fortune.

This was my idea growing in Canada all winter. Build your shed and insulate it well. Rather than one 600w for flowering, run two 400w in two "rooms" (actually just separated by an uninsulated wall). They have to be light proof. You run one room for 12 hours with a room heat exchanger venting into the room currently not on. Then exhaust from there. When the 12 hours is up and the lights go out, your second room turns on and vents itself vice versa. 24 hours worth of profitable heat, simple and contained completely in one unit...No ducts connected to your house!

So you'll build a shed in your yard from scratch? Like someone said, what are you going to do with your electric? Have a cord run through your yard? And what about water, when you need to water them. You don't think your neighbors will be suspicious seeing you carry multiple gallons of water in and out of your shed?

And you yourself, you will probably be in that shed almost every day. Almost all my neighbors have sheds, and not one of them is in there every single day, even this one guy, who is a die-hard gardener. IMO its going to be more trouble than it is worth, and risky.

Did you consider doing a small stealth grow? It won't eat up as much of your living space, and might be better suited for you if you only plan on growing enough for one or two people.

If you're describing what I think you are, it sounds like the plants would not get any good fresh air? Or am I too baked to understand what you said...lol

Stay in the house. You have to tend to a garden. You will go out there every day for hopefully long periods of time to take care of your babies. Lets just say your asshole neighbor sees you go in, shut the door behind you, and then not come out for 30 min. Once he might ignore it but twice you are going to peak someones interest. When growing weed this is the last thing that you want. I think that being inside is safe and smart.
