Question How loud are RUCK inline fans?
.

For my first grow I selected RUCK Temperature Controlled Fan 150-L 700m3 : http://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/...-Fans-1250.asp (700m3 version)
I read reviews of it and I like the feature of automatic temperature control. Also it requires a lot less wiring and would be cheaper than buying a separate temp control unit.
But now I am worried it might be too loud. I never saw/heard one yet.

My grow will be: 4'x5'x6'- (120cf) 600W (+ maybe 600W in the last week of flowering)

I could place the fan either in my bedroom or else outside (where my neighbours might hear it). I understand that either of these fans would be too powerful for 120cf but the weaker ones are barely cheaper and it seems like a good idea to invest in a good piece of equipment that I might use in later and bigger grows. I have all the options of circulating the air within the house, drawing it from the bedroom and blowing it outside or the other way around. I also thought of plugging the fan in a timer so that it switches on and off when needed.
(Also, since I might add a second 600W bulb for the last few weeks of flowering, extra power seems like a good idea.)

As an alternative I picked the Acoustic Fan (either size): http://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/...c-fan-1285.asp
Which I beilieve would be fine in the bedroom or outside but it has no thermostat, a feature I’d really like to have (particularly since the fan is too powerful).

Both fans cost roughly the same.

What do you think?
Anybody knows how loud these fans are? (compared to let’s say a vacuum or a PC fan)

i have the ruck 125 (from greens as well, great service) and i would say that the 125 is alot quieter than any hoover. i have the low powered version (295cfm) in a wardrobe in my living room and dont find it obtrusive, have it wired into an evolution controller, and the hum when dialled down to 30% is louder than when it is running at 100%. i need to make a box and line it with some sortof sound deadining.

anyway the 150 is gonna make noise no matter what, purely based on the quantity of air it moves. with it being an accoustic fan i would say it couldnt be no more than 40db. peace

i would go with the temperature controlled fan, if it was me. you can always work around making a box for a fan, moredifficult to make a fan temperature controlled.

I'm not sure what sort of setup you've got, but in my stealth wardrobe grow I'm just gonna put a shelf next to my exhaust and then put a diy muffler on it and pump my air through that. Here's the link to the page for a diy muffler guide:

Smart arse, i clearly meant on the inside as you'll have plenty of room at the top of the grow room. Doesn't even have to be a rubbish bin either, can just scale it down to an appropiate level... idiot.

this is the exact fan i have from greens also(5" 125)(295cfm) and its very quiet.
you can silence them even more by using acoustic ducting and some other tricks.

Do you mean the vacuum?
Well for me that wouldn't be quiet enough to sleep, at least not before my Night Shade's ready.
Unfortunately I have no clue what 40db sound like.
Thanks! I am inclined to go with the temp-controlled.

Are you for real buddy? Bro coco made a harmless joke. You'd be well-advised to strap this garbage bin to your foul mouth.
