    Default cfl help please

    HI,im a first time grower and im startin with cfls. how many watts should i get,,what kind should i get, how many should i get for 5 or 6 mini plants. my grow room and budget r pretty tight so please help me out.

    well first off what size is your grow space??? i veg with 5 cool white 26 watt cfls. i have one plant right now and i used 5 and i am 2 weeks into flower and i am using 20 daytime 26 watt cfls for flower. the more the better butter. but i would use atleast 3 to 5 for veg and whatever you can for flower good luck

    Hey, gorilladave, how's it going?

    Basically when you look for cfls, take your cell phone, it probably has a calculator. Then divide the lumen output by the watts. This will give you lumens/watts. This is how efficient a specific bulb is. The higher the number, the better.

    If you can find Deluxe or some other symbol of high-end bulbs, they usually are more intense and have a broader spectrum.

    6500k are better all-around and for veg. 2700k are better specifically for flowering as the spectrum induces production of flowering hormones. You can either replace 6500k bulbs or mix them with 2700k bulbs for flowering.

    will soft white work
    my space is about 18 inches by 2 feet by 3 ft high

    6500k is labeled Daylight.
    2700k-3000k is labeled Warm White.
