I will have 4 600 watters on light movers as close to the plants as i can get them and i am leaning towards getting the XXXL because i think it would cover a larger area.

xxxl.....more area, and they run cooler than the tubes in my experience.

4-1kw's on 2-6" 460 cfm's , plenty cool enough. be careful how close you put them to the plants. You still have to get your distance. I like the size of 6" duct is small spaces. how large of a space you trying to cover? soil or hydro?

I will be using 600's. I like the economical lumen/watt ratio. plus i may have multiple rooms in the same home with the 600's, cant do it with the same amount of 1000's without throwing up flags... A/C costs a lot.
Also planning on getting diffusers, I dont hear alot of people on here saying they use them... may start a thread about them.
8" is for an easier flow for the fans, i can run a 10" fan to a 10-8-8 Y Duct to two lights then out to another room.(all growing areas will be sealed the exausts will also have backdraft dampers on them.
the Growing area of each room will depend on the way i grow.
I will be going aeroponic for sure, just not sure if im going aero/nft or aero/dwc... thats another topic tho.

The rooms will be atleast 10x12 ideally 10x14-15

sounds like a man with a plan. is this all still in the planning stages? i would love to be kept in the loop as far as progress goes.

I did not make my post clear. I use the 1kw's on 6" with no heat what so ever, 1 on 2

so what did you end up buying ?

I need to get temps down inside my tent, and I was thinking of getting a cool tube and attaching a wing. What was your experience with the cool tube versus another reflector? Why do you think the tube ran hotter, because the bulb is enclosed in such a small space?

I would say they aren't comparable. magnum xxxl is a huge reflector, cooltube is a small and the most efficient air cooled design available...

depends on your setup and what you are looking for, but a cooltube is probably better since it is easy to move and set up and cool.


having worked with both types I use a 6" cooltube for my 1,000w HPS and w/ a quality booster fan pulling air I don't even need a real centrifugal blower to vent my hps temps out of the house.
