Hey guys I plan on building a room in my garage 8x4x8.
I plan on running 2 600w hps/mh aircooled lights above two tables (3x4) each. I plan on running Fox farm Ocean Forest soil in square pots. I have not decided how many plants im going to do be growing but im doing either Scrog or SOG. First, I need to buy all the basics. I plan on pulling fresh air from my garage to cool the lights, exhausting the air from the lights back into the garage. I will have a passive intake system, with another fan and carbon filter exhausting into my garage up high. I will also have a thermostat in the exhaust duct, to tell my fan when to exhaust the room @ a certain temp. Does this all sound sufficient and correct? 2 fans 1 carbon filter 2 600w light systems Here is the light I will be using http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct...roductID=48956 I have been debating on which hood to use. I could really use some input. Think it will be worth it? ![]() 6" Inline Fan ![]() 119$ to cool the 2 600w lights and ![]() 199$ To exhaust and get rid of the odor. Does this sound like im on the right track? What else can you suggest?? |

Hey mate does your garage have any insulation? If not it will get hot in summer and cold in winter. Also drawing fresh air from the outside can bring bugs etc in so filter fresh air for good results. My 5 cents any way. Good luck

Hey. My garage is insulated, as its only about 8 years old.
My summers never reach about 80 degrees and my winters never go below 40 at night (usually around 50) I will have a heater because keeping warm is my actual concern Whats a good way to filter the fresh air so no bugs/etc can get in? Thanks for replying, really sad when 55 ppl look at it and only 1 responds. |

i think the reason you've gotten few replies is that the system you've suggested is very good.
anyway, here's my two cents but it's really just window dressing for what you've already planned: you shouldn't need the thermostatic control of the exhaust fan. practically speaking, you want the fan on when the light is on unless you think the outside temps are going to be too high or you're intending on adding co2 which requires time periods where you don't exhaust. you may not need the second fan and exhaust, again depending on your outside temps. i've got a setup in my garage that has filter-fan-lights-exhaust and it cools the room fine during the winter. during the summer my outside air is over 100 f so i have to use an airconditioner

Just put a cheap air filter that you use for your house over your inline duct or hole. Their weaved enough to where pests cannot get inside. It's a cheap and easy route. Hope thats the answer you were looking for.

businesslights.com has got some real good prices on fans. You could always try a DIY cooltube to save some dough this holiday season!

Now that is what i like to hear. Awesome suggestions. I really like the one about the air-filter and DIY cooltube.. I'm going to look into that.
To be honest, at night my garage gets colder then 60 degrees as it has a concrete floor. If I were to insulate the room im going to build would that help the temps inside the room. What should I do if the garage is colder then 60 degrees at night? Mini-heater? "you shouldn't need the thermostatic control of the exhaust fan. practically speaking, you want the fan on when the light is on unless you think the outside temps are going to be too high or you're intending on adding co2 which requires time periods where you don't exhaust." Ok, so in order to create good air circulation im going to need the exhaust running at all times, pulling fresh air through the passive intake at all times. Then if I wanted to go the route of skipping a fan (which I really want to do, I just was told thats not the best way to do it) I could just put a filter, fan, light, light, exhaust exhaust. placing the filter up high to get all the hot air out. Are there any other downfalls to doing this? If summer tempature is the only one I could probably use this year round. My summer temps never get above 85. |

almost exactly like i have it - i just moved the fan to pull air through the lights, don;t think it really matters.
depending on your climate and season you may need to add cooling during the light cycle or heating during the dark cycle
