filter+fan setup

the setup will be put in a 8x10 room which has a 1000watt hps over 5 big bang and 5 white widow fems. i have 2 400 watters that i might hang if the filter proves it can handle the 10 plants and see how it handles 15 or 20
filter- High Tech Garden Supply
fan- High Tech Garden Supply

the filter is pretty much standard, but I'm trying to save some money on the fan. Its a very cheap alternative with very similar cfm or 250

Any thoughts?
do you think it will handle the odor of the 10 plants?
how about 15 (1000watter and 400watter)
how about 20 (1000watter and 2 400watters)

NO NO NO!! That fan will NOT be adequate for that light and that room. Absolutely not! You need a bigger and better fan. Your room is 8x10x? Lets say the room is 7 ft tall. That's 560 cubic feet to ventilate with a 1,000 watter. You need AT LEAST a 400+cfm fan...maybe even 2 (exhaust). Trust me, I have that 256cfm BOOST FAN (it's actually 160cfm stand alone) and I'm using that in a room that is only 70 cu ft with ONLY 144w of t5 HO's (low heat).

To add on, the general rule is that you want to ventilate the whole room AT LEAST once every 5 minutes. But, when you add a carbon filter to that and if you want to go through tubing and air-cooled hoods...that DRAMATICALLY increases the amount of times u need to vent. Personally, I want to be able to vent my room 2-3 times a minute with a carbon filter and air-cooled hood...which is why I'm using a 435cfm fan with that SAME CARBON FILTER in a 70 cu. ft. room with the addition of an air-cooled hood with a 400w HPS.

alright, i splurged and dropped $220 on my odor setup High Tech Garden Supply
will this setup be able to handle 20 plants under 1800 watts in a 8x10 room? The fan is rated at 424cfm so air will cycle about every 1-2 minutes. Can i stop here and leave a window cracked for intake and exhaust? Or should i go and drop like $400 for a proper system there too

hey, be sure and let us know the low-down on the performance of that fan/filter once you get it going. i've heard those growbright fans do push a good amount of air but can be a bit noisy. as far as the filter, i've heard the 4" goblin is junk due to air leaks but i've have heard their 6" model performs well. I'm considering shelling out $130 for a 6" 275 cfm vortex but that growbright fan is really tempting considering it's pushing 150cfm more than the vortex for cheaper....just curious about the noise level tho. Depending on your ambient temps, that 1 fan may do the trick to handle your heat situation. 1800 watts is a lot of heat tho so don't be surprised if you have to get another fan...perhaps think about doing a cooltube setup.

I asked about these fans when I was shopping and herd they were LOUD, which was a show stopper for me. I went with a 6" Vortex 449cfm from businesslights.com for $149 and then built a duplicate of an odorvent 12 for about $50.

Really quiet and the fan will push much more air than I will ever need to in my 30"x42"x56" cabinet. With speed controll this set up lets me regulate heat nicely. from all the reviews I read the Vortex fans are the ticket.

Hey akdrifter... how do you know if you have a vortex. I have a fan like that from hydrofarm. It's blue and big. it's the 6 inch.. and like you I can't have a loud ass fan in my tent.
