Default 400w in small homebox tent?

The homebox website says that their small tent is suitable for 250w. Anyone have a guess why that is? I'm hoping to squeeze one into my attic so I can use my 400w hps this winter. Heat shouldn't be much of a problem since it gets cold up there and I am venting the light. My hope is that the tent will provide enough insulation to keep the temps where they need to be.

Anyone put a 400w in their roughly 36"x20"x64" tent?

It is a little bit small for a 400, but let us know how it works out.

i cant imagine a problem if temps arent a problem and u can fit it in the tent u should be fine they say there is such a thing as too much light but i dont think that will push it over the edge

you should get some good ventilation in there or else your plants will bake. Like at least a hole at the top with a fan blowing out cuz thatll get hot.

    My home made tent is 36"W x 20"D x 60" H...

I have a 600 watt HPS in a cooltube with a 170 CFM fan dedicated to the light...

2 circulating fans and an exhaust fan keep the tops of the plants at 75F when the 600 HPS is 10 inches away ...

    Here is a pic...

Let me know if you have any other questions...

    Cheers..

    Gypsy...

I have the homebox s, but have not yet set it up for a grow. I will have a 4 in 80 cfm inline fan for intake. A eurohood from htg with one end open for free air and one end attached to a centrifugal blower running out the top into a carbon filter. Inside ill have a oscillating fan on top of the plants. Hopefully that should do the trick. Also, it gets quite cold in the winter where I am. So I think we have very similar grows here synapse.

I got the homebox XS and i run a 400W MH in it just for vegging, although you have it in your attic it will still get pretty HOT even if you got the HomeBox S. What i do to bring down the temps is use a Inline fan sucking the air out of the box out the house , also have a oscillating fan running aswell. It brings my temps to about 28C to 31C, without the inline fan i reach temps to about 36C...Test it out!!

Thanks y'all! GypsyBush, thanks for postin that pic, it definitely put me at ease that my 400w will be no problem in this amount of space. Though the homebox s is a bit too tall for my space, I think I may try to make it work anyway.

Works for me just fine, my temps with a cool-tube with a 140 cfm fan is about 74 degrees. If your in a cold climate like me then you probably will be more worried about heating than cooling. I have a passive intake system. I am in hydro so I use an aquarium heater in the res, which seems to keep the heat just fine.
