well i phoned my local electrical shop too get some higher wattage CFL's.
my bayonet fittings are able too take 60w max and are of a bathroom type (none corded). so i ask shop for a cfl thats around 40w ( actual watt). woman starts spouting that i cant use a 40w actual watt cfl in my fitting as it is rated for only 60w. i ask what bulb wattage i can use and she replys " a maximum of 11w sir that equals a 60 watt incandescant " is this wrong ? i have always thought 60w fittment = 60w acutal wattage bulb, either a 60w incandescant or a 60w CFL. can anyone with good electrical knowledge clear this up for me. i dont want too overload my bayonet fittments and end up with fire. thank you Tamzi |
