Default Which is cooler, 250w hps vs 300w cfl's??
Hello I have been having serious temp issues with my 300~watts of cfls. I have a 250cfm exhaust and temps still ranging from 95-110 degrees!! I was wondering which would be cooler, the cfls I have now or a 250w hps with a cool tube? Thanks a lot!!

Dimensions of the box are: 30" wide X 20" deep X 36" tall

The box was in a closet with the exhaust running through my attic with 25' of duct and an intake and still getting 95+ temps. Mind you this is a normal closet in a bedroom with no ac/heat to it. I would set overall temp in the house at 65 and this would still get hot. Now its in the garage and temps still range from 88-100??

250 with a cool tube operating correctly should be cooler than the cfls

Without question 250w hps + cooltube, as long as it's set up correctly

Default cheap a/c
hey.. i had a similar problem.. what i did to solve it (inexpensively) was freeze big cups of water, so that they were larger cubes and didn't melt as quickly.. and placed them in an open cooler/lunchbox thing and put a fan blowing over the top of them.. lowered the temperature 7 degrees no joke..100 + is kinda high though.. if necessary you can build a little jimmy rigged air conditioner out of copper & plastic tubing, a tiny water pump, and a fan.. thats if you want to get really innovative though.. it's not hard though, if your interested let me know or even just look it up on the internet.. you'll be able to find a video i'm sure.. good luck!

ps: the ice cube thing will raise your humidity a bit, so be prepared for that..

make sure your grow box is sealed tight... and your exaust is beside your light sucking air out... 25' of ducting is a long way for a 265 cfm fan to push air out of... but if your exaust is right by your lighting source it will pull almost all the the heat off your light blow it out..
