im working on my exhaust system for a closet build and i have 3 fans. i have a 178 inline can fan with a matching can filter, a 265 active air squirrel cage fan (noisy), and a little 6 inch inline duct fan. i need to use these fans to cool 2 400 watt Cool Tubes. and exhaust and clean a closet just about 40 sq Ft.
i have a few options, i was going to setup my exhaust with the can fan and filter straight to the attic, then set up the two Cool Tubes connected together with the 6 inch duct fan in between and an independent intake so the smell dose not get out, ill use the squirrel cage to exhaust the attic as well. i want to start by hanging the can filter and connecting the can fan to it, then i going to split the air flow into two, use one as a cooling/airflow vent by running a duct so it blows air across the plants. and the other connected to the opposite side of the squirrel cage fan, that way no smell will escape through the exhaust plus im thinking it will help the squirrel cage fan on the other side, im still gonna exhaust into the attic, this will save me from running two ducts through the ceiling and also give my can fan multiple uses. i think its the best way. and i was just going to use the small 6 inch duct fan as an intake. im asking of my new plan has any flaws. do any experienced growers know if im making some sort of air flow mistake. of if it wont work for some reason im not aware of

Take the 265 cfm fan and intake from out side the room and run it thru both lights and back out the room that way you are using no air from the room. You can use the scrubber inside the room for odor control

a diagram would help.
without pics not sure of your design, but...it sounds like you are combining the airflow from the light and the room in order to exhaust them together??? you're likely to be drawing a vaccum on your room cooling line instead of blowing as it seems you have a fan pulling air at the end of the exhaust. splitting the air is tough to make the airflow balance - you'll want a damper on the line with the least resistance so you can balance to backpressure of both lines.

a pic is worth a thousand words. design looks good, a couple of comments but i suspect you already know:
1. i'm assuming the two venting ducts are completely separate and only cross on the diagram. 2. you can do a passive intake without a fan if you put a damper on the hole to control airflow. if you can, place the intake low on the wall 3. place your exhaust as high up on the wall as you can,

i dont think exhausting your grow into the attic is a good idea. Actually its never a good idea to intentionally add moisture to an enclosed space like an attic, even if its properly vented. Creating warm and damp areas protected from the outside weather is practically an invition to mold, mildew, dryrot, and insects (TERMITES)
Ive seen many houses suffer severe damage from bathroom and kitchen fans vented in to the attic space. After a few years you end up with saturated insulation, sagging roof gables, and structural damage. Venting a growroom into an attic would be even worse and the ill effects would start even faster. be careful with dampness in the attic. it should be avoided at all costs.

what do you think about re-routing the scrubbed air from the can fan so that it blows air into the intake side of the cool tubes. and another duct that will circulate air in the grow area.

I have decided not to go with the my original plan
and i think im making this sound too complicated, But I basically just want to put my scrubber and fan on one end of the lights and an exhaust fan on the other, keeping it all inline. should i use my inline can fan at the end pulling air through the lights and exhausting into the attic, with the squirrel cage at the other side sucking through the filter and pushing through the lights? i have drawn diagrams for everyone, the first one is labled, the first one has the can fan first and the squirrel cage last, and the second one shows the squirrel cage fan first and the can fan last. what do you guys think will be the best setup, because the squirrel cage has the cfm's but not the torque or power to really move alot of air, but the can fan is very powerfull. so im not sure what is the best setup
