I have a very small closet that I would like to use as a grow room, I am wondering what yall's opinion is on the size. Is it possible to use such a small closet, how many plants do you think I could (or should) put in there and how much lighting and what kind of lighting ??? Closet size is 38"W X 26"D X 94"H, basically a 3 foot X 2 foot X 7 1/2 dimension. I am only wanting something small for very personal use, just wondering if this is too small. I appreciate any comments or opinions.

You could always split it into two levels. That way you could maximize space, cos I dont really think you will fit a 7 foot monster in your closet. No wat I mean?

Thanks for the reply geronamo, currently right now there is a shelf in it with a clothes bar below it at about 5 feet so technically it already is two levels, I could hang lights from the clothes bar and lower them as low as I need to and raise them accordingly as needed pretty easily with a chain wrapped around the clothes bar. What kind of lights would I use, will they cause alot of excess heat so I have to add a fan(s) with the closet being so small ??? Are the dimensions of the closet too small ??? I have never grown before, especially indoors, but as I stated above, I only want a small amount for 2 people. And no, you are correct, I don't want a 7 foot monster in the closet. Thanks again.

Can anyone give me any input as to WHAT lighting would be best for a small space like this, would it be better to go with a HPS light or CFL light in a small space like this ??? How about cooling and vertilation, would I need a fan if I used CFL's ??? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Seeing as you are only looking to make enough for personal use I would just go with something simple like a 150w or 250w hps, get a fan in the room, and try to find a way to get some sort of exhaust hook up, no matter wha you do you will need fresh air (exhaust). Go out and get a simple nutrient package from your local hydro or gardening store some high grade soil (to avoid any bug or mold problems), get some ph drops to test your waters ph (you will soon find out how important this is, try to keep your water and/or nutrient solution around 6.3-6.5) and off you go. I do suggest purchasing seeds that way you will know what you are dealing with bagseed can go very wrong if you get unlucky, I can personally recommend hempdepot.ca or drchronic.com but there are lots of sites out there that work just fine. Good luck on your new hobby and their are plenty of peple here willing to answer any other questions you may have.

Wow, thanks for the reply regrets. I wouldn't of thought I could have gone with such a small light, I figured I would at least want a 400W hps, but if I can do it with a 250 then that's even better. This closet is in my house so venting into the attic with fans will be easy to do. I was thinking of going with a hydro/aero unit and not soil though.

I also don't have any hrdro store anywhere near me, where would be the best place to buy lighting, preferrably off ebay since that is where my "play" money is kept,lol. Anybody got any GOOD ebay sellers that they use ??

Dirt, Just get some flouros or cfl's and a small fan. Buy some lowrider ak47 seeds and give it a go. Small plants, very easy to grow and you get a pretty decent smoke. 70 days total...seed to harvest. 5-7 days drying, couple weeks curing in mason jars and your done. Its about the simplest and cheapest way to go.

what he said. keep it simple and cheap the first time and if you like the hobby upgrade later. just grow a couple of plants and work out the bugs.

How much do you think you will need to produce to indulge the habits of the two of you, that will have a lot to do with what your set up will need. The size room that you have is much bigger than many people on this sight are working with. If you are deciding to go hydro/aero I don't have any info for you there, but as a new grower I still suggest starting out in dirt, it is just much cheaper (initially), and much more difficult to screw up, but to each his own, you can make that decision on your own. Just let me know how much you will need to produce and how often and we can try to guide you on the best method to pull it off.
