Default exhaust into carbon filter or pull through?
I hope to use my exhaust fan to also pull heat off my 150 watt HPS. Would it be better to have a duct hose attached to my reflector running to my exhaust fan, and have my fan blow out through a carbon filter, or would it be better to mount the filter in the grow box, have the fan pull through it and exhaust out of the room, and use a seperate fan to blow directly on the HPS to keep it cool. A small bow that will want to warm up! any thoughts?

Use separate fans, 1 for exhaust, 1 for light cooling.

Question i dont think it matters...
what direction the air flows through a carbon filter. I have mine on the exhaust side. i have my fan "pulling" air through my lights and pushing it out through my carbon filter. This works well for me and keeps my room temps down nicely.. good luck

Halzy68, you are right, it doesn't matter, only that it's sealed (i.e. no leaks of un scrubbed air!) What CFM is your fan and how big your filter? Also, what light are you using?

NoDrama, funny, you and Halzey68 basically said either way is right! So you use one fan to exhaust the room through carbon filter, and another to cool the light? the one cooling the light, does it just blow onto the light to cool it, or somehow exhaust out of the room too?

Carbon filters seem to eliminate smell better when they have air pulled through them.
