Ladies and Genlemen, I give you the Hazy Suzan Scrog![]() The scrog lazy suzan grow setup:For the 600 watt plus medium size grower who has only one point of access to their grow. I came up with this design because my room is 5X5 but only 5 feet tall. Just low enough of a ceiling that I would get crowded without a vertial light in the middle or a scrog, and just wide enough that the Scrog would be impossible to maintain in the back of the room. I already posted this journal once, but didn't have any pictures and had a very nondescript name (think it got 24 looks before being buried 3 pages deep in a day) So I am reposting the following under the hazy suzan grow journal. I am also including pictures of the drying sour kush on its 5th day of drying. half of the stems are snappy. The pre cure is DELICIOUS and potent as hell.Grow number 2 for me is now 4 days in the drying room. Anybody who has read my threads in other forums knows that I just finished my first run with soil. Trial and error is an understatement for this run through. 4 plants in three gallon container under 600 watt hps. Orgnkid's sour kush from clone. Made my own soil mix with way too much worm castings and had terrible drainage. Before I knew what had hit me, fungus gnats had eaten my roots to the point that my plants would never get over 20" tall. Compounding the problem was heat between 85 and 95 degrees up until week 5 of flower. I will be lucky if this harvest brings more than an ounce . Win some lose some i did however get to find that this strain ROCKS! If you can get your mitts on it, be sure to try it out. VERY high thc %. I have looked at alot of buds under the microscope, and have yet to see quite a concentration of resin heads. Moving on. My setup is as follows for this time around: 5X5X5 room 6 plants. 3 chimera C4 (Shiskaberry X Cotton Candy) 3 orgnkid's Sour Kush (Sour D X OG Kush) SCROG 600watt hps cool tube Swamp cooler for humidity balance and temperature control Fox Farm Ocean forest soil in 3 gallon containers Still deciding bloom fertilizer Considering amending with Piranha for beneficial bacteria. waiting to see if there is a cheap alternative. The clones are in the machine and have been there for 8 days. At this point, the Sour kush is sending out a huge mass of furry white roots from the sides of the rockwool and the c4 is sending the first of its roots. Photos attached from today at day 8 My design for the Screen of green has finally been conceptualized. Don't think I have seen much like this put into full production. What you are looking at in the computer drawn picture that looks like the revolver is a bird's eye view of my scrog layout. it is an octagonal table with casters on each point. the circle in the very middle is a microphone stand that i cut off at 3 inches. The pipe holds the table on axis to rotate easily so that I can actually access each plant as I need to as well as move the plants under the light as needed. i am debating setting the plants slightly off axis of the light to avoid a consistent hotspot. Anyone with the pros and cons of this, please feel free to chime in. To make for easy watering, I am setting up a 20 gal rubbermade just outside the room with a hose fitting to attach to a hose on the table with multiple access points with caps on them. the hose will have drip lines coming out of it (1/4 inch to prevent clogs) so that I can very easily water the plants by hooking up a hose and plugging in a cord. Included are pictures of the clones in my cloner at 8 days from cutting, the bud from my recent harvest day before I cure it, and the hazy suzan in construction Smokin' a bowl of that sour kush you see, as I submit Wish me luck on this one. I am really excited to see this scrog get going. Will post pictures as I build the screen into the table and as I transplant.

Yesterday marks the first day of week six since taking cuttings for this batch.
The room got bleached from the last harvest, and the light got switched out into the 250 watt mh. More importantly, the hazy suzan is complete. SO excited to see how this works out. See pics for details. The nails on the top are the layout of the net that i am going to weave out of twine when the plants reach that height. the 3 short tightly noded plants are sour kush the 3 leggier plants are the c4. My only indecisiveness right now comes around deciding which brand to use for my mycorhizal fungi, humic acid, and enzyme type stuff. Pretty sure I am going to go with budswell for the pre flower boost Any thoughts?

My sour kushes are such amazing little plants, but man do they take a long time to grow any height. So bushy that there is no way I could concievably keep them in the room with the C4. I have been keeping this c4 mother for so long that I figure I might as well flower these now if it's either/ or.... especially considering that the c4s have already reached net height (12 inches above medium) That being said.... I just tied off my net.... and have just administered my first dose of fertilizer to them. 1 gallon reverse osmosis water 1 tbs of bat guano 1 tbs of kelp meal 1 tbs of earthworm castings bubbled overnight with an airpump ppm read 550 and ph 6.3 after a little adjusting after about 2 days, I noticed my daily growth average jumped from 1/2 inch to about 3/4 of an inch. My choice has been made on humic acid/myco/beneficial bacteria, and luckily it all came in one package- soil secrets nectar/ambrosia. Also in the mail is my 0-7-0 high p bat guano. Will post pictures as the screen begins to fill. This is my first time filling a screen, so wish me luck. Word on the street is that timing is everything with this system.

Any words on when to administer the 0-7-0 bat guano based on how full my screen is? I figure I am about 2 days away from the next watering and about 7-12 days away from switching over to flower.
My first scrog, so any successful scroggers, advice would be appreciated

Wow, very ingenious idea man. I am in the same predicament about how to do a SCROG without being able to reach the back plants. Unfortunately my room is long and narrow so the hazy suzan wouldn't make the most of the space. I'm curious to see how full your screen will get. Did you top those beauties?
Is your watering system being pumped just by gravity or do you actually have a pump in the rubbermaid? Right now i'm using a 5 gallon pail with a hose attached to the bottom to reach my back plants, but I plan on setting up hoses going to each plant as you do. How do you manage not to tangle up the hose while spinning the hazy suzan? What did you use to split the water from the main hose into all the smaller 1/4" tubing? Mind taking some pics? Props man, I hope all your time pays off! I'm a rookie too and am on my 3rd round right now. Hopefully the 3rd time is a charm. I have had thrips on my plants for a few months now and they are bred from satan himself I swear. I have tried everything from pesticides to predator bugs and they're still there. I'm forced to shut everything down after this round and leave the room empty for a while to make sure EVERY one of those little buggers is gone. Fuck I hate bugs....sorry for the rant. |
