Day 57...
I measured the pH of the runoff water today. I balanced the water to 7.0 then collected the first drops that came out the bottom. Readings: Healthy female: 6.08 Female #2: 6.09 Largest white widow: 5.79 Unhealthy seedling: 5.95 Retarded looking one: 6.31 Retard #2: 6.69 Oregano: 6.15 White widow #3: 6.36 All of them are too low, except the retard. So what I did was remove about an inch of the soil and add 1 1/2 teaspoons of dolomite lime to the soil and covered it again. I then watered them straight from the tap (ph 7.7). I think I did the right thing, I'll have to measure runoff again next water. I'm new to all this. The 2 healthy females look like calcium deficiency (burnt tips, slight curl). Adding the dolomite lime should solve this along with the ph problems. There is a pale seedling and the 2 retards which I think are suffering sulphur deficiency. Probably from pH lockout. I water with 1tsp/litre of epsom salts even though I added lime. Sulphur deficiency is twisted leaves and pale new shoots. I thought the white widows were getting their leaves a bit twisted from too high ph, but measuring the runoff said they're acidic. Hopefully getting the ph back up will solve this. They are growing nicely anyway. So hopefully I fixed a few issues today. We'll see in a couple of days. If I did this again I would make sure I get the pH right and add some dolomite lime to the potting mix. ![]() ![]() Healthy female. Starting to develop some lower branches. ![]() Female #2. ![]() Lowryder - 18 days old. Improving now since repotting in different soil. Greener and actually growing. No where near the white widows though. ![]() The first white widow, big and leafy but they are a bit twisted. Hopefully sorting out the ph will solve this. 14 days old. ![]() White widow #2 - look how big this one is. It's as wide as the pot already. It's really grown the most, you can see where it was 2 days ago in my previous post. Compare it to the pot size of the other plants, it's crazy. ![]() This seedling went really pale. This happened to the other lowryders before. I think it's sulphur deficiency due to pH lockout. Last edited by wouldnot; 08-25-2008 at 03:13 AM.. |

Thanks mate. Things are finally starting to fall into place with the plants and with my head. Getting a better idea on how to do things.
Widows are from dr chronic, same as the lowryders. Seedsman.com, I think it's the same site. I'd tell you how to make it darken up, but looking at my track record, it's a risk Last edited by wouldnot; 08-25-2008 at 03:37 AM.. |

I've got a bit of a problem, I'm going away in about 3-4 weeks. I'll be gone for 3 weeks. Not sure what to do. I reckon the lowryders are gonna be done around then. Should I flower the widows before I leave also? Probably, if they grow for 3-4 without me messing them up and they'll be fairly big.
I have a friend who can come and water them every few days, but I'll have to do something so they don't dry out too fast. Maybe some black plastic over the soil |

I started 3 The Church seedlings and 3 bagseed clones under 2 of those panels and they stretched aswell, two of the seedlings died but the clones all seemd fine, they grew slow as hell aswell but that could be because it not that intense lighting

its not going badly at all mate.. like the way u rescued the operation..
LEDs aint half bad tho matey, im using a 30w mixed one and a 100w red one for veg for my second grow now and they're doing the job nicely. they produce no heat so dont be afraid to stick them right up close! u can also get LED mesh, which the plants just grow through. . i wonder if they are just overpriced christmas lights.. but ye, the LEDs arent as bas as you think matey!

Day 59...
All good news, everything is looking better than before. On an upward trend. ![]() Lots of green. ![]() ![]() Female #1 looking great. ![]() Female #2 looking pretty good aswell. ![]() The cabbage one is a female. Buds all over the place. Epsom salts didn't fix it, I'll keep trying though. First priority is to balance ph issues. ![]() 20 day old lowryder. Looking much healthier after transplant even though I squashed the crap out of it yesterday with the bottom of another pot. ![]() 16 day old white widow. Starting to side branch. ![]() This white widow is so leafy. Better each day. It's like a big solar panel. ![]() The paleness has gone slightly from the leaves but still doesn't look good. I don't know why it's like this. Again, I'll try and balance pH as first priority. |
