I was a little skepitcal of posting a grow journal however I'm very proud of what is happening so I will post for everyone.

As of right now I do not have any images though they will be here soon.

My Setup is as follows:

1 duel tube flourescent light ( dont ask me if their cool or warm- I DONT KNOW - they came out of an office )

1 Fan

Walls covered in tin foil (went to 15 different stores, no one has mylar!!!).

SEEDS: The seeds I'm using are "regular" or "commercial" seeds from you're run of the mill "dookie" weed. I also used seeds that came directly from some very potent buds of the Fruity Loops strain and Hindu Kush strain.


GERMINATION: The germination process had a little hicup though I think it has helped in a way. I started with about 28 seeds, 14 of the "dookie" weed and 14 of the "exotic" weed (exotic being Fruity Loops+Kush). All of the seeds sprouted pretty quickly. The second day of germination the seeds were ready to go in the soil, however due to time restrictions I was forced to wait another 8 hours before I could put them in the soil! When I returned 8 hours later I came to find that the paper towels around the seeds were COMPLETELY DRY and the tips of the exposed roots had already begun to shrivel up. I doused the paper towels w/ water and let the germinating seeds sit in it for a good 2 hours in hopes that the shriveling roots would take on the water. Unfortunately because of this germination mishap half of the seeds did not even make it to sprout.


SPROUTS: Started with 14 sprouts, 8 sprouts from the dookie weed and 6 from the exotic weed. (24HRS OF LIGHT)

2 WEEKS: At 2 weeks the dookie plants were growing the best. The exotic plants were taking some time to get growing, though some were obviously doing better than others. Because of the drastic size differences I decided to start pulled plants from the garden. (some of my plants were on the 2nd node while others were still sprouts struggling to make it to Veg.) At the end of 2 weeks I was left with 8 vigorously growing plants- 5 of them dookie and 3 being exotic. (24HRS OF LIGHT)

4 WEEKS: All of my "dookie" plants are doing great. There is only 1 dookie plant that I suspect will be a male. I suspect this plant will be a male because it has had a LOT of upward growth however nothing is really developing at the nodes, it seems to only want to grow up. Because of its "shitty" growth style I've decided to make this my "bonsai" testing plant. I've already began tying it down and forcing it to grow in ways plants don't normally grow. Every other plant looks AMAZING. All of my other dookie plants are short and very busy with LOTS of growth at the nodes. The leaves are DARK DARK GREEN + BIG + THICK. My exotic plants are still a little bit behind the dookie plants. My exotic plants are at the 3rd node and it has become obvious that I do indeed have two different strains of exotic type bud. 2 of the exotic plants are DEF Sativas- perhaps pure. They're leave blades very thing and VERY long- I think these babies will become my mothers. The other exotic plant appears to be a 50/50 mix of indica + sativa- I say this because the leaves have qualities of both- whereas my dookie plants mostly appear to be Indica. (24HRS OF LIGHT)

As of right now I'm very impressed with my grow- I didn't think I'd get this much off of flourescents. In 2 weeks I'm getting a HPS/MH 600 WATT and this is when I'll change from 24HRS of light to a 18/6 cycle. I want to give these plants maybe another month under the MH just to give them a little boost of growth before I begin to flower them.

It has been a few days since my last post. I've been pretty busy and still havent found the time to get some images up here.

I'm very excited as I just got a new 600hps for my growroom. I've taken down my WEAK flouros and put up the new HPS and I have to say what a HUGGGGE difference in the amount of light emitted - I never knew how bright a hps actually was.

My HPS is actually a HPS/MH running a 600 watt conversion bulb. I've looked into the light spectrum it gives and it will definitely do the job for me.

Now I have just ONE question about my light. It is a 600 watt, and my grow area is approx 1.5ftx5ft which will give me about 80 watts per square foot. My problem is that I have absolutely no way to keep a constant supply of fresh air to help cool the room. I do believe I will run into some heat issues as I read another post on here about a guy using a 1000 watt (not sure of his room dimensions) and he had 86 watts per square foot.

Any ideas on cooling the room off? Perhaps open the door to the grow room at night to let fresh air circulate? I don't want to open the grow room while the light is on simply because it is so damn bright.

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!!!!

BTW, I took down all the tin foil-- cant have the hps with tin foil otherwise I'm sure ill start a forest fire.

yeah im sure you would kill your carpet if ya had one.... it would just burn like coal... ^^ happend to me with some * smelly chinese sticks * had them in the tinfoil, the foil got so hot it was just glowing red when i got home... whole room was full of smoke ^^ rofl... never again will i put something in tinfoil except for a sandwich or some other type of food ^^

That is nuts! I never would've imagined that the foil would heat to that extent.

Thank you for the info though- never again will I waste my tin foil on walls!

Yeh believe it or not I actually went to a bunch of office supply stores. I also went to Garden Stores, Hardware Stores, & Art Stores - - none of them had mylar!! what a shitty city I live in eh?

In any event, I'm just gonna go with some 6 mil poly plastic obviously w/ the white on the inside of my grow room. I read it has something like 90% reflectivity

my guestion is i sprayed my leaves with water and came back several hours later with yellow spotson leavesi have tin foil on my walls could this cause the water i sprayed on the leaves to burn?

good choice on the 600w, you must have read up. It has the best lumen to w converstion ratio.
