Hey guys after reading much on this site ive finally decided it was my turn to have some fun, so i started a grow in 2 18-gallon rubbermaid tubs: I germinated about 3 days before planting some seeds. Day 1 starts the day after planting, and the 6 plants are lettered to keep them in order and so they dont get mixed up. I am using Shoultz potting soil plus, when watering i use bottled water and superthrive and im thinking of adding some Miracle Gro all purpose nutes next week. The first 6 pics are mostly of my 2 biggest bitches: A(5/1) & B(5/2). Pics 7-12 are all of my plants, they have the dates they where planted on. Sorry for the bad pics all i have is my phone, and i will get some pics of my setup in the next couple of days: Its basically 2 18-gallon rubbermaid tubs, 4 exhaust, 2 intake fans, temps are a little high peaking at like 93 for about 2 hours but the plants dont seem to mind, i have a homemade c02 bottle, CFLs: 2 26W 6500K & 2 42W 2700K, for now, i plan to add some soon. I hope some of you can help me throughout this grow and i thank all of you in advance for taking a look. Comments are very welcome. Now enough talking lets post some pics
Ok, well not sure if anybodys following this but ill update just in case Plant A is now 1 week old, yay. Plant B is 6 days old. And plants C,D,E,F are all 4 days old. Not sure about max and min temp yet, i will know for sure tomorrow, as i just put in 3 frozen water bottles at the intake and it seems to make a lot of difference because the air coming out felt pretty cool, so well see. Got some pics of the setup, its in an attic in FL, so thats why im struggling a little with the temps. Now: the pics, enjoy
Note: Plants B & C were deleted by accident when I was transfering from my phone, The plant are in order from left to right(A,D,E,F).Sorry for the crappy quality pics
Good to see it.
I dunno about the nutes. They are looking pretty good from what I can see, But I dont think I woudl give them nutes that soon. I would wait a bit longer, at least two full weeks.
Looks like a good start! I will be following. If you can put a piece of plexi glass under the lights to keep the heat at the top of the tub so your exhaust can suck it right out. That helped me keep temps in the mid 70's. Good luck!
WOW Thanks for all the replies and time guys, really
Tryintogrow: yea this is a huge concern for me, right now i just got frozen bottles by inside by the intake fan and 4 exhaust fans, im thinking the max temp is gonna be around 90, not ideal but the plants look real healthy and dont seem to mind, plus the lights are on from 2PM to 7AM so the main heat is for about 2-3 hours, but ill have to look into plexiglass like RaginCajun420 said.
JoeSalamon: Yea thanks, i agree i was so eager to get it going and yours was a big inspiration, i woulve actually done it in a pc case but i couldn find one and dont have that much $ to spend on a case Oh and ill hold on the nutes untill the second week, the soil doesnt have that much nutes in it anyways its like .12%-.8%-.4% so its not that much.
Thanks for the compliments and replies guys, will update tomorrow, Oh and before i forget i have family coming over for from saturday to next saturday, so unless i can sneak in to the attic and water the babies then i will have to come up with a solution very quickly, please if you can help say something, i was thinking of leaving the cups in a container filled with water since the cups have a small hole at the bottom, what do you guys think?
I couldnt get a grow going with the first soil, it had some nutes in it, even less then what yours has. I hope that yours can survive in it. But then again I think I had other factors that were messing mine up too, so who knows.
I left my seedlings and clone for a week without water and they survived, they were droopy but all came back in 20 minutes. I would just give them a HUGE watering right before and hope the best... A week really isnt that long.
Yeah, woudl have been nice to see another pc case grow, but hey, you got even more space so dont complain. Yeah pc cases can be expensive, I picked both mine up for free wahooo! Just gotta do some bargain or garbage picking.
I know I have seen these clay spikes attached to rope. You put the rope in water somewhere and then the clay spike sucks up water when it dries out. That is an option you could do, but I dunjo where you woudl find what I am talking about.
