helllooooo every body.

first time grower here, but no stranger to the site. ive been lurking and reading through for quite a few months now, just recently joined proper though.

well, here we go.

i bought a quarter of some killer dank from a buddy, definitely indica dominant, for sure. had the most wonderful couchlock high to it. the only problem with this bag of sticky was the amount of seeds. im guessing by weight i paid more for the seeds than the bud, but hey, if i hadn't bought that bag with all of the genetically nuts seeds... i wouldnt be here dicking around with a first experimental grow.

so, on to the details. - did i mention the bud i smoked that these seeds came from was incredible, i guess the grower just missed a male right next to it in development. oh well, his loss, my gain.

i germinated 1 seed about 15 days ago and planted in Miracle Grow moisture control with nutes of .21-.07-.14
So, for those of you with experience, was this a good choice of medium, bad choice? tell me why with a thoughtful explanation. dont give me some crap like uh MG sucks kak and thats it. explain why please.

right now im not really monitoring the temp or humidity- thats stupid, i know, whatever. dont have the stuff here at my college apartment, gotta wait another weak when i get home for the summer, im planning on making a proper pc stealth grow box, and when that gets too small, which i know it will, im developing a pretty stout mini-fridge 3ftH-2.5ftW-2ftD for the rest of flowering and harvest.

as far as my set up for the next 5 days...

ive got one.. thats right... one 100 watt 6500k cfl next to the coffee cup with the 15 day old germinated seed that still hasnt broken the soil yet.
its pathetic i know.

soo, my guess is this thread wont really take off until i get my set up straight. but hey, we all started somewhere.

for now though. if you know what you are talking about, tell me about my choice of medium. Miracle Grow.21-.07-.14. and we'll go from there.

ive got a ton more seeds i can germinate when i get home if i made a crappy medium choice.

btw. what are the rockwool advantages/disadvantages, ive seen a ton of people here go that rought.

alright, just got back from the store.
i sold my text books from this semester and walked away with a cool 150 USD.
i bought a few surge protectors and bulb to wall socket adapters.
i also bought a few bulbs and some weird nute solution. ill post a picture, if anyone knows if this stuff will do anything or if it is pure shite, let me know.

i am also germinating a few more seeds. so here is the set up as it stands.

i dont have a box let, but i will in just 3 more days, one i make it home from college.
6 seeds have been germinating for about 18 hours. no progress yet. and onegerminated seed is sitting one half inch under some miracle grow moisture control soil.
i have 5 26 watt 6500k cfl's with lumen out put of 1600 per bulb, so as it stands that should be roughly 140 watts and 8000 lumens of 6500k light. will that be enough or should i go for another bulb to get it closer to 10000 lumens?

also, what cfl is used for flower? i know its around the 2700k range, but none of the brands i have found so far say the k rating. they just say soft white light, or daylight.

i would post picks but what would be the point. nothing to show off yet. lol

well i cant get the camera to work for me but the stuff is called "SuperThrive- vitamins and hormones" got it at walmart, it says it is supposed to be used with every water along with nutes. anyone ever heard of it?

this is purely for reference so i can keep track of time. 6 seeds were put in a papertowel for germination on 4/29. man i cant wait to get home and start building the pc grow box.

decided to axe the pc grow box, pretty sure im gonna get the mini fridge engineered the right way. probably going to use the pc for germination and a little vegging while we get all of our stuff together for the fridge box, hoping for an oz. should be a great first experience even if the yield is an 8th... getting so anxious, ready to go home and get this op underwayyyy!!!11!one

you could possibly not have germinated the seed for long enough? how long was the white root before you put it into the soil? How far away from the soil do you have the lights? What is your temperature like? Have you been watering the soil enough to just keep the top layer moist..not soaked? Also I think you should have waited to fully have your setup before you stared. It would have made starting them off and keeping them thriving easier, but I understand about wanting to get started right away. Also I dont know much about soil nutrients. I think you are better off waiting until the seeds have sprouted before adding the nutrients anyways. I know you will have a a successful yield with your growth. You just have to finish getting your setup together.

the tap root was roughly 2cm maybe less. is that too small? upon closer inspection last night, i buried the little guy about 3 inches down, i dug it out, it was rotten, the whole thing had turned black. i noticed about two inches of shoot growth and the tap root as well as the bulb that should have broken the soil. it just never made it and died, oh well. im germinating 6 more seeds right now, they been going for about 36 hours, haven't cracked yet.

i know im goin with rockwool one these germinate, could you give me a step by step on how long the tap root should be, and how i should go about soaking the rockwool and with what nute solution should i soak it with if any. and finally how far down in the rock wool should i put the seeds? i really appreciate it guys..

i know a ton about biochemistry and biology, but jack shit about growing good ganaja.
