Ok so this is my first journal here and only my second time ever harvesting (assuming im successful). I am following the popular short book by Seemorebuds '8oz in under 100$'. Currently I have 3 42w CFLs, im using miracle grow soil (time release fertilizer) 80/20 soil/perlite medium to grow in. The PS and chemdawg seeds were germinated using the ole damp paper towel method i have always used to great success. But the Bubba Kush i planted straight into the soil and im a little worried bout it cuz it has been about a week and still no sign of her. The PS and chemdawg cracked yesterday and were planted. I will update with pictures in a few weeks when there is something to look at. I also have a 16 day old bagseed plant that is looking very promising to be a female (short and stocky). This bagseed plant will begin the 12/12 flowering process today. I am using CFLs and according to seemorebuds they have limited penetration and dont supply great light to plants bigger than 20 inches. Thats why im starting flowering so early. I am fairly new at this so any help or advice is greatly appreciated. CHEERS!

Sounds like your off to a good start cant wait to see the chemdawg:)But I'd hold off on nutrients for a while seeing as your using MG. but you can grow good weed with MG you just have to know what your doing.

Thanks for posting and showing interest. Yes i wasnt planning on using nutes at all as i have never used them and am scared of using too much and damaging the plant. Although i have read that MG has cacium or magnesium problems so if the plant showed that it may have a lack of nutes i was goin to try either of these. But now i have you guys to educate me and let me know how much, when, and what i should supplement my baby with! So if you have any good ideas or maybe a thread u may be able to link me too to gather information on the topic i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again.

I run Chem and Bubba. Chem's a little bit of a pain in the ass for me. Cuttings always take the longest to root. But it's worth the wait. I love my Bubba Kush, such a easy plant to grow. Dinner plate size leaves, easy to trim, great smoke.
Like to see what weight you pull off them.
Good Luck

Damnit, im really sad about the Bubba Kush now. Im pretty sure that seed was a dud cuz it has been over 7 days and no sign of her. Im pissed cuz i was trying to follow the stupid fucking book perfectly so i planted the seed directly into the soil instead of using my foolproof damp paper towel method. I guess it was smart to only plant one like that. And thanks for the info on chemdawg i plan on cloning them for sure i will remember CD is a bit of a pain.

I'd be careful with the nutes, especially in the early stages.
Your plant will tell you what it needs. If it's doing fine, leave it alone. If somethings worrying you, research that symptom and address it as it comes up. It's a learning process. And a fun one at that.

miracle grow potting soil should have plenty of "time release" fertilizers to get you through the grow since you plan on doing such a short vegatative cycle.

next grow you do if you want to get into using nutes go with a soiless mix like coco coir or pro mix. both have 0 nutritional value for the plant and will need outside nutrients at around week 2-3 depending on how fast the plant is growing.

basically you have a veg nute and a bloom nute. your first run with nutrients i would go with a lineup like the fox farm trio. all the instructions are included.

Day 17 Bagseed Day 1 PS & CD

OK so both chemdawg and Pineapple skunk have broke the surface, and my bagseed girl is looking good after the 12/12 switch. I noticed a small dark spot on one leaf that im hoping is just a ph imbalance that i will address in 2 more days when i water her again. I will upload some pics in a few days when the seedlings grow out a bit. Im also thinking about trying a mazar kush freebie on a 12/12 from seed cycle but i wont start germinating that seed for a week or so that way its on the same schedule as the other girls.

Sadly Bubba Kush failed to germinate.

This is my bag seed plant, looking fairly decent. Its a very short plant, no more than 8 inches tall. Secondary growth is moving slower than i would like but i think that is because of a PH imbalance along with a lack of lighting. At the moment i only have one 42W CFL on each plant I plan on getting at least 3 on her by the end of the week. As for the PH imbalance i will be watering her thoroughly tomorrow with 3.5 quarts of 5.5 ph water to bring the balance of the soil down a bit.

This is my Pineapple Skunk seedling on day 3 looking very good.

This is my Chemdawg seedling on Day 3, she sprouted with only one cotyledon. Not sure if this is a big issue as i have never encountered a seedling like this but it seems to be very healthy.

looks good man, hope you get that PH issue worked out. have you done soil tests yet to confirm your belief? i would recomend getting the soil tested before trying to change the PH

i really dont think a PH of 7.5 is going to hurt anything...

PH is measured on a sliding scale..7 is neutral neither acidic nor alkaline. this is where MJ like to be, maybe slightly acidic but in all honsesty knowing how PH works a PH of 6.5 is not really "acidic" nor a PH of 7.5 is really "alkaline"

i do agree that 6.5 is where you want to be and if you can achieve this then by all means give it a whirl...i dont reeally deal with PH in my soil grows..i add garden lime to every batch of soil and havent ever had a issue.

anyways...sometimes better to leave things alone than go messing with the soil bio....keep it small, keep it simple when it comes to changes.
