So, I am finally getting the nerve to try my hand at growing. Today a couple friends of mine are going to bring some seeds, and we will begin the germination process. I have a quick question though, what do you suggest, starting them off in soil or germinating them in water first? Thanks.

I say you should have a read up on this site master...

i have a 100% so far with the wet paper towel

just take 2 bits of kitchin roll and fold up to make a 1/4 of the size
then wet the towel and put seeds into the middle of the folded up paper then place into a bag and blow the bag up and tie off

then place the bag some where dark and at room temp and leave for at least 24hours i would say dont look for 48hours

if germed plant them on if not blow the bag back up and leave a little longer

i had good luck with just dropping the seeds in a glass of water and leaving them in a warm dark place

that bag method seems good to cant really loose moisture in the bag scratch what i said b4 ima noob:P

I always use the method exactly as Bigbud described, and it has never failed me yet. Usually all seed are done between 24 & 48 hours.

Also, can I use a ziplock baggy for it?

make sure there isent too much water in the baggy wet the paper towl you have them in and put mm 3-4 teaspoons of water in the baggy and let it sit in a dark place

Thanx for the help, looks like I can't get any seeds until today, but better late then never :P

So, do I check on them in 48 hours after I put them in teh baggy? Just to be safe?

say on 24 then 48 as some may show with in that time others may take up to a week..!

Thanks a bunch, im a complete newbie when it comes to this, and i am trying to read up as much as possible. One other question, If i am only growing say one or two plants will 2 40 watt flourescent bulbs (the curly light bulbs) be enough for my plant(s)? Thanx in advance.
