Setting Up My New Vertical Cupboard

I havent grown anything for years, but the sad state of the local product has forced me to set something up!

For mothers and clones, I'll probably just use off the shelf grow-tents, but after checking out some of the awe-inspiring vertical grows on this and other sites I had to have a crack at it myself.

The plan is to use "AutoPot AquaValve's" to supply nutrients to 20 trays on shelves in a sort of double cupboard, with 4 x 15l pots of soil in each tray - So 80 plants in total.

The main cupboard is 3.5m x 1.75m, divided in half by a column of shelves, and I'm hanging 3 x 600w "dual spectrum" hps bulbs in each side.

Here are a bunch of photo's of the build so far, questions and suggestions welcome! :)

This looks like a very promising setup I'll be along for the ride I've been contemplating a stadium style for my next setup

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to seeing what my cupboard produces, this room looks amazing!

I'll post more pictures soon, I have some cad files here somewhere too.

Wired up all the electrical stuff today, and test-ran it for a few hours before I tidy up all the cables- Everything seems sweet!

Finally got all the trays and pots, so the final step is to test the plumbing, then I'm good to go!

For this first crop, I'm going to be doing half K4, and half Kush 8)

More pictures :)

looks really cool man. Def a good set-up, you obviously have experience. I have a question. Is that Mylar you are using? black one side, white on the other? I need something to block the light out from a closet, Ive tried , nothing really seems to work so well. Does that stuff block the light, Let me know. Thanks

I'm going to put some reflective mylar on the inside of the doors, but all the stuff in the photo's is generic black/white plastic sheeting from a local garden center, which seems to be pretty light-tight.

The clones I had arranged didnt come through, so I ended up having to settle for 40 rather scrappy-looking "I think it's K2?" cuttings instead, just to get something going while I set up the veg room and get everything running!

I potted them yesterday, and today 2 were totally shrivelled up! A closer inspection revealed that they had not rooted at all >:(

Thre are a couple that still look a bit pathetic, but most seem to be taking to their new home.

(Pic of an average looking, and most poorly babies attached.)

Everything looks amazing. I think you are going to see some spectacular yields. How long are you going to veg those clones? Keep us updated! I can't wait to see how this pans out.

"spectacular yields" - Thats what I like to hear :)

It remains to be seen how long I veg them for - I plan on bushing them out a bit before flowering, but having never grown this strain before (not even 100% sure what it is) or used a vertical setup, there is a bit of a learning curve involved in this first round!

Looking great! I will raise my "spectacular" to an "egregious". Keep up the great grow! I am thinking about setting something like this up.

Things are looking great in here. I wouldn't call anything in there "leggy". Besides, I am sure they will all fill out in the next week or so.

Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to FIM them? Every vertical grow I have ever seen has been a SOG-style, with no topping or fimming. Is this an experiment, or have you seen some great results somewhere with a fimmed vert grow? All I know is, those fimmed plants are going to wear out a couple pairs of scissors when you get to harvest time. I hope you have a few "will work for weed" friends. Keep us updated, though. I definitely want to see what happens here.
