Decs's SOG Journal (from seed)

June 8th - The seeds were germinating for 2 days using the paper towel method, all showed roots during those 2 days.

June 8th - I planted 20 of the seeds into 4" pots, this will be their first and final pots during this grow.

June 10th - 15 out of 20 have broken the surface and popped their seed shells off, The other 5 have broken the surface
but have NOT popped their shells off yet... Expecting them to do so within the next day or two.

Just a little sneak peak at another grow i have going on in a separate tent.

after the branches raced for the top (each of them were topped) and it just keeps getting bushy.

Hi Decs! I'm also interested in SOG, and you seem to have a nice compact setup..well setups
I wonder how you'll manage growth in height and also what kind of seeds you preferred for SOG also are you sure 125-150w lights will be adequate for flowering period?

I'm planning a SOG in a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m cabinet, if I can manage heights & lighting, I may make it two shelves in the same cabinet, well we'll see..
I'm a newbie in this area but I really think I can manage a SOG (I've grown many vegetables indoors before) please keep on updating, I'll be following your babies growth and learn from your experience

Well, the 4" square pots hold a little more soil than 16 oz plastic cups (which ive seen small SOG setups using often through veg and flowering both)
The trick for me, is in 16 oz cups i have never had a plant grow over 2 feet... however they have all had rather large buds... so the height issue works in my favor.

As for lighting, The 125w CFL is strictly for vegging the plants in my other tent, once my SOG grow is finished i move the plants from the other tent into the tent
i currently have my SOG grow going on in (with 150w HPS lighting) which i will use to flower them. (150w HPS isnt a lot at all, but it gives some pretty decent results)

Also the 125w CFL (still not a lot at all) could get the job done for flowering, BUT i choose to use the HPS instead as it works much better for flowering.

The issue that might possibly be a problem in this grow is the pots being so small but so close together... if i can bypass that, it will be fine.

Feel free to ask ANY questions through-out my grow and ill do my best to explain/help.

oh i forgot, i would have to say i would prefer mostly indica strains and ruderalis strains for SOG... mainly because of the shorter heights

I'm in a SOG attempt also! I'm using the same nutes, but I'm using an ebb and flood hydro setup. I'm interested to see what your results will be with your lighting as I'm almost exactly opposite! I've got a 1k watt hps lamp on them . Anyways, height control has been an issue for me too. I've put up a scrog to help support them and keep the tops pointing up, but I've already had to move them to a slightly taller tent. Hope everything goes well for ya! Can't wait to see how the ladies do! +rep

good i will be paying attention to this journal . i need to learn about SOG due to my lack of space for my grow. is there a way for me to follow this journal or something that updates me on it? im very new to this website.

Toris1981, since your using, by far, higher wattage lighting than i am, this shall give us some insight on lighting also
as we will see the differences, pros, and cons, ect.
