Day 2

1/9/2012

I was happy to find a healthy tap root in just 24 hours! Nice.

IMG_0015.jpg

Soaked rockwool cube in ph correct water(5.5 as rockwool tends to raise ph) for 10-15 mins.

IMG_0013.jpg

Placed seedling in rockwool cube, root facing downward. Then placed rockwool cube in personalized incubation chamber. Placed incubation chamber under 4 - 2' t5's. I will monitor this daily to watch for the sprouting seedling.

Sup Amax. That seedling looks good. Is that the only one you're gonna do? Reason I ask is because if it's a male then you'll have to start all over again :( Only other thing I would do is cover up that rockwool nice and good so it's completely dark. I used rockwool for my first couple grows then switched to rapid rooters. I notice rockwool doesnt drain as well and if direct light is an issue then you'll get algae growing on top of it :/ Easy fix tho like I said....just make sure it's nice and covered. The lighting is good ;) I'd give her until she grow a couple sets of true leaves(maybe another week or so) then ease her into that 150watter you have. With the one plant you're gonna wanna give it as much as possible to ensure she produces well for ya :D I'll sub up and tag along with ya mane...happy growing!

Good to know. Ill def throw some more hydroton clay pellets to cover the rockwool. What is a rapid rooter? My plan on my first grow was to get one female out of two seeds and I ended up with two so i stuck it out. I would prefer to concentrate on one plant instead of two.. especially with only 150w HPS. I am going to try to LST this one to get some nice colas. They cotylendons on the Alquimist are starting to turn yellow. Any Idea's? I havent added any nutes yet and PH was 6.0 when I checked last. (2 days ago) When would you say to add nutes? I heard to add nutes when the leaves start to yellow and the roots have breached the net pot. Sound right?

Negative. The cotyledons are supposed to die off. This is a good thing! Means your plant is reaching for the sky and growing too big for its old shoes ;) Dont add nutes until your plant has at least 1-2 nodes. Just keep the PH in check and you should be fine. If it starts growing really fast then you could prolly add 1/4 strength nutes without harming the seedling. Seedlings are very different from clones. Clones you could just throw them right into Veg mix and they'd be fine. Seedlings you have to make sure they're big/strong enough to handle what you throw at them. Get it wrong and any number of things could happen....including hermaphroditing :( I understand completely bout the one plant and the 150w, and I think thats a really good idea. Should be more than enough light for 1 plant...I just hope it's a female for you. So yea all in all, I'd wait another week before you add 1/4 strength nutes mane. Just my opinion, but ya do wut ya do :D

looking good. you are a week ahead of me, im about to go from pete pellets to my DWC / bubbleponics. I'm definitely subbing you. I would go with your nutes soon (about 1/4 strength), Im waiting until mine look like your last pic to start nutes.

Def man! Not sure about ppm.. Dont have a ppm meter. Normally I stick to 1/4 strength nutes and I dip into full strength nutes during week 5 and 6 of flower. Then I start to flush. I am curious though. I might have to pick up a ppm meter. And yes I added first round of 1/4 strength grow nutes (7-9-5) yesterday. Ill upload some pics in a few days.

Looking real good Amex, i would suggest u get a ppm meter check on amazon i picked one up for like 30 bucks i believe a ez-tds, so that you know how much food ur plants are eating as opposed to how much water they are taking in. I will sub to your journal and try to help along the way if need be.
